Most Dissappointing Piece of Gear You've Ever Bought?

Tech 21 Tri AC. It was on the paper THE solution for me at the time, I couldn't get any usable sound out of that :(

Ibanez JEM VWH 2007 purchased new. Guitar sounded like straight up ass - just dead wood. Nothing a pickup change could do. $1800 for a production guitar is also fucking stupid. I should have saved a bit more and went for a J-Custom. Never again - i will stick with the used market on top dollar Ibanez's.

the Roland Gp100 preamp .It was probably one of the first modellers that boasted to have COSM with models of Soldano, Marshall, Jazz Chorus .Fender
Sold it in 2 days ..sound like pure crap

Tie between a Marshall DSL50 and a Carl Martin Plexitone.

wow. really, ive always been interested in the plexitone pedal. thats dissapointing. would you mind saying what bugged you about it? it would save me some dollars. been using a fulldrive II for about a year now, and thought the plexitone might be an upgrade to it..

Morley Tripler. It always hummed, no matter the amp combination, power source, etc.

ampeg vl1002. god it took me alot of money to keep it running long enough to sell that giant smelly piece of shit.

Mesa Roadking and Mesa F-30
Marshall TSL122
Engl Powerball
EH Metal Muff
Fernandes guitar (forget the model)
A ton of Eminence speakers
BKP Nailbomb

Fender Custom Vibrolux with two 2x10's.
Terrible hum. No NFL in that thing.
On a positive note it helped me realize I really hate 10's for guitar.

Klon Centaur. I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't any better than a dozen or so other boost/OD pedals available at the time (mid-90's). It definitely doesn't deserve the hype around it...not sure how that even happened?

For me it would be a Marshall JCM900 .

+1 on this. JCM900 was terrible for me. No bass and terrible highs. I thought I liked it at first but I was distracted when I bought it.....

Ex wife.

The bottom end was loose. The top end had a constant screech. Took a huge loss getting rid of it...

line6 pod hd500. absolutely sterile piece of digital crap. i could not make myself like even one amp model. i was comparing it to a digitech rp1000 and a eleven rack...which both rocked.

Original Ibanez Jem. Dreaded Pink color, wanted the green but I got a great deal on one brand new. I didn't like anything about it except the way it looked. The fret ends were dressed weird, any vibrato on either E string wasn't happening without the string slipping off the neck, the DiMarzio's squealed like a choir of pigs at high volume, didn't like the Edge trem either..stupid sleeves on the bar wore out too frequently, the blocks that held the strings in place liked to fall too low for the screw to hit it centered.... it did stay in tune though. Last but not least these thing had the cheeziest plating on the hardwear I've seen to this day, they pitted and looked like ass in no time and I took really good care of this thing while I had it.

I liked it when I played it at the store, the longer I had it though....

I did end up selling it for close to what I paid for it.

IBENHAD. Indeed.

EH Big Muff. I was a Pumpkins fan growing up and I probably bought and sold 7 or 8 of them before I finally figured out that they just weren't for me.

Stratocaster (S/S/S). Lots of dudes make Strats sound awesome. Turns out I'm one of those dudes who makes them sound like shit.

Boss Metal Core. For awhile I was playing through Orange heads and was really jonesing for some high gain action. I knew the Metal Zone sucked and thought this would be an improvement. It wasn't.

Orange Rockerverb 50. After the Metal Core incident I decided that a pedal wasn't going to cut it and wanted another high gain amp. I was digging Orange at the time and bought an RV50 without trying it first. Big mistake. Probably the worst sounding amp I've ever used.
