Most Dissappointing Piece of Gear You've Ever Bought?

zoom valve DSP 9150

I expected endless flexibility but got a sterile empire of muffleness.

Charvel San Dimas. I read a million reviews and watched a ton of videos, on paper I loved it but the one I bought just sounded like shit :(

Mesa Road King II, by far!
Really? I've never played one but on paper they look pretty cool.

My lead guitarist in my band just got a Randall RT503. My old Boss GT3 from 12 years ago sounds better.

The bottom end was loose. The top end had a constant screech. Took a huge loss getting rid of it...

Those are the two amps that I'd like most to be able to play in the whole world.

Those two are not friendly amps and deff not for everyone. The VH4 is very transparent and extremely tight and kinda hard to dial in at first. I can understand why alot of people wouldnt like that. The same goes for the invader 150 but the voicing is very different then the vh4

that is some seriously funny shit ,right there

Fluff, do you really find the Reborn recto that much better than the standard 3-channel? I thought there was hardly a difference. I A/B'd them through the same cab with the same settings and seriously could hardly tell the dif...

Mine would be the TSL head I had on loan. Thank God I didn't buy that p.o.s. Also been disappointed with the Visual Sound stuff I've bought. The 1-spot has its uses, but noisy as hell and the same goes for the the Jekyll & Hyde od pedal I bought; sounded great, but noisy in every setting.

Ampeg VL1002 I wanted to love this amp but, at the time I owned it I just couldn't get along with it

I'd have to say Zvex/Vexter Fuzz Factory.
I know some people love this pedal. I know guys like Matt Bellamy get some great tones out of it.
Maybe I had a bad one, maybe I just didn't experiment enough with my signal chain, maybe my Marshall Vintage Modern nor my Randall NBKing didn't get along with it.
I just couldn't find anything usable in a band context whatsoever. Kicking it on always made my sound get swallowed up by the rest of the band when I wanted it to rage and rip your face off.

For me it was an Engl fireball 60. I bought it when the powerball was popular. I wrong expect an amp with some verstility. What I got was a gain monster (the name should have clued me in  ) with a. Lifeless clean. It was nice for metal, but being as old school metal is one of styles I play, it just wasn't for me.

ISP Decimator G-string would be the 2nd. Bought instead of a Suhr Silent backplate to take the hum from my single coil guitars. It worked okay on high gain, but on clean and low gain I really noticed the tone change. I see people list a noise gate as necessary, but my guess is they are playing with a lot more gain than I typically use. I ended up with an Ilitch backplate for my strat and just deal with the hum from my 2 other Single coil pickup guitars....

Im glad this has helped a few people think a little more about there gear before buying. It's always good to be absolutly sure.

Oh..................."Dissappointing" has one S
Just noticed i spelled that wrong................

Ibanez JEM VWH 2007 purchased new. Guitar sounded like straight up ass - just dead wood. Nothing a pickup change could do. $1800 for a production guitar is also fucking stupid. I should have saved a bit more and went for a J-Custom. Never again - i will stick with the used market on top dollar Ibanez's.

That's so funny. I have one of these, although I don't know the year. It sounds and plays amazing. That said it sounds completely different through my Rivera KHR than it does through my Rivera Duarte. It sounds great through both, but maybe you got a bad one....maybe you did get dead wood...lol. I do agree though, they now are $2800 in musicians friend and that is fucking ridiculous, however, I feel that way about pretty much any guitar.
