Don't know any Tool songs but that one they played on the radio years ago.
I've had a couple of the albums and tried to listen to them but found it all sounds the same.
Boring. :aww:

By "that one they played on the radio" do you mean Opiate? Or Prison Sex? Or Aenima? Or Sober? Or 46&2? Or Stinkfist? Or Lateralus? Or Schism? Or Parabola? Or Vicarious? Or Jambi? Or The Pot? Because those are most of their biggest songs and/or radio singles. They didn't have just one.  It's like saying, "Hey have you seen that one movie by that guy Steven Spielberg? It was popular years ago..."

And to you, these two songs sound the same?

Yup, and then there's those wankers Perfect Circle! :D

Sober.
Doesn't mean a whole lot because I rarely listen to radio.
I just don't like them and find them exceedingly monotonous and boring.
Ok?

I dig APC.

That's cool, man. I can respect that. But you gotta admit, you can say the same "all their songs sound the same" about AC/DC. Or Aerosmith. Or Zeppelin. Or Killswitch Engage. Or Michael Jackson. Or Metallica. Or any band really. Ever heard any song by any punk or ska band ever? All sounds the same to me. :) Every EVH song sounds the same too. That's what makes them EVH songs... But when you think about it, it's not really about that. Here's an example.

I saw Mastodon and Gojira last week. I couldn't tell when one song ended and another began. It all just blurred together. But it was like that—to me—because I never really listened or paid much attention to their music before. Ever listen to classical music? Holy crap, it's all the same! ;) Usually when people say this (like my opinion of Mastodon and Gojira) it's because they just don't like the music enough to listen and get into it to the point where they pick out the nuances here and there. And that's totally fine. It's a totally valid opinion to have. So don't worry when assholes like me poke ya about it. :)

Never got into tool .
I like the drummer , but to me it's like one long song !
Where does it start ?
Where does it end ?
When I first heard them on zrock I called them stool !!
I like mr big much better .
Just a matter of opinion !!

This will likely just boil down to a generational question. Tool is cool, but I don't connect with them like I do with Mr. Big & esp with Paul Gilbert.

Im newish here and don't wanna offend but its no question even you 80s guys cant deny danny carreys drumming??

Opiate is my favorite Tool album by far. Love the early live stuff on there as well as thr studio tracks...

Anyone else like APC more than Tool? I do.

Nope
Love 'em both, but if I had to pick one over the other? Tool by a smidgen; APC has some brilliant textural soundscape to their tunes, Tool is just in a category of their own.

If anybody were to say that about Zeppelin, they would truly be a TOOL

  yet true

I hated Mr. Big from the get go; mainly because of the tambourine song and the vocalist. While he is a good singer; he just has no balls. Everything is polite and happy and :bleh:

With that being said, the above song was actually a nice middle of the road rock track that didn't venture too far down the path of flowers and kittens. It doesn't hurt to have Gilbert and Sheehan in the mix.

As far as Tool goes; I fall into FourT6and2's category of observation. "OH LOOK IT'S A LURCHING RIFF" with (imo) zero musical climax while Maynard sing-yells over top of it. No thanks.
