Hi all, can anyone tell me from their own experience how good or bad this eq is ?

I once had a Boss GE7 for a few days and couldn't get rid of it quick enough due to the very weird things it did to my tone even with all the sliders at zero. Because of that I'm a little worried this might do that too ?

Thanks.

Giga.

I used to own the boss and I now own the mxr. The mxr 10 band is the best pedal eq I've ever owned. It's not noisy (with the exception of extreme settings and even then it's not as noisy as the boss) and only colors the sound the way you want it colored by emphesising or de-emphasising certain frequencies. I use the mxr in the loop of my modded dsl and I have no desire to try any other eq again.

I love my MXR 10-band. Had the GE-7 and got rid of it, due to the noise. I put it in the loop of my Budda SD30 and my old Voodoo DSL as well...Great volume boost, which is what I mainly use it for now b/c my amps sound great without an extra eq.

I also use it in front of my Crate practice amp, which has a surprisingly good tone, I shit you not! I get a really good tone with the EQ in front, or sometimes I boost for solos in this setup as well.

Thanks for the replies guys !

Anyone else got anything to add ?

Giga.

I use a MXR 10 band in the loop of my QuickRod to reduce volume, doesn't seem to affect the tone and works great.

I just sold mine, I didn't care for the way it sounded in front of my amp even set flat. I should have messed with it more in a loop but never got around to it.

The best sounding and quietest EQ pedal i've played is actually the little cheapo plastic Danelectro Fish & Chips pedal. You can probably snag one for like $15 second hand. :D

Are you serious ?

I have heard someone else say that about the Fish & chips. I have never tried one. I would like to know myself

I have the Dano Fish n Chips EQ, and it's scary silent. I returned my Sniper Modded GE-7 for the Dano EQ since the Dano was better.

Absolutely serious. It's a great little pedal.

May not be the most durable pedal, but as long as your not stomping the shit out of it i don't see that being a problem. I've had mine for a few years now and its still in great shape. Sucks batteries dry in no time though, if you buy one, get yourself a 9 volt adaptor for it.

Yeah, that's the one thing i like most about it. It's very quiet for an EQ, WAY quieter than the MXR 6 band i used to have.

And you would be correct. The Danelectro Fish & Chips pedal is one of those cheapo sleeper pedals that kick ass and it will become one of those saught out pedals should they ever discontinue it. Great bang for the Buck EQ

Thanx guys. The clip of Python is one of movies greatest moments. Nice touch Gainfreak.
