I've misinformed you!!! Mea culpa.

Just took a look at the midi mongoose manual and it will accept a 7 pin midi cable and phantom power.

Amazing amp...Particularly the latest revision. Chan 2 is a huge surprise. But yes, you have to push the treble and presence pretty hard to de-blanket the sound. Has a thickness and punch unlike any other. In my opinion it should be slightly brighter and a touch tighter.

I use the Diezel Columbus foot switch with my VH4 and it works great!

The best thing I did to my VH-4 was add a Negative Feedback . Jeremy has a simple way to
use one of the 4ohm holes to put a new pot in. Few wires to solder and its done.

This amp should come with the NFB .
Dude, this is a brand new $4k amp. I'm not sending it to be modded anytime soon. :)

Congrats, it's a great amp. Loads of tones available in there, esp when people spend time get past the Tool/Metallica riff pigeonhole and delve deeper.
Ch1 sounds fantastic, esp with some great reverb and perhaps comp pedal up front, as you say. I prefer not to hit that channel too hard into breakup, I like it dead clean and bell-like. It loves a good low output pickup and a strat. I'll switch to Ch 2 if I'm going for pushed/edgy tones.
Ch2 is a great channel for experimenting with boosting for even more possibilities. Ch2 sounds amazing playing with greenbacks too if you have that option. Ch3 is iconic, not much to add.
Ch4 wasn't an immediate love for me but I grew to enjoy it more when I kept the gain way lower and swapped out the preamp tube for something lower. I prefer it with a less saturation.
Doing the simple NFB mod also was a big benefit for me. I'm not a huge modder type person and generally take amps as they are or move them on, but the NFB really opened up the amp to just the right goldilocks amount for my ear. Mine is a 2010, so I'm unsure where the circuit changes were at around that time, but I believe the VH4's from the last few years have all been much more open and dynamic compared to the earlier darker sound anyway, so perhaps its not as needed on a current model.
I prefer KT77 or 6L6's in mine over EL34's.
I can recommend a good midi switcher.

Congrats! I had a VH4 years ago. Around 2009. Great amp and I've thought about getting another Diezel recently but only out of boredom haha. I also had an Einstein, which was cool. Diezel has a ton more models out now, so it's hard to even choose. Herbert MKIII, Hagen, VH2, etc...

I had an Einstein back when they came out. Mainly because that was the most affordable Diezel. I kinda liked it and kinda didn't. But man, this VH4.... Whoa.

I had them at different times. But from memory, the Einstein seemed slightly less compressed and had slightly less of a stop-on-a-dime attack. I remember a few of your videos from like 17 years ago where you compared an Einstein and SLO or Landry. You got great sounds from all of them. But for the vibe you were going for, I think the SLO sounded the best. I think you had an Ultra Lead too?

Yeah, I had an Ultra-Lead too and loved that thing. I wish I hadn't sold quite a few amps. LOL

Congrats! I still regret buying mine over the Herbert. Had to have it though…. It’s a killer amp but I still remember riffing on the Herbert and thinking gatdam what an amp….

I played a Herbert at an amp fest many years ago and loved it! Haven’t had a chance since.

I really wanted a VH4 for the four channel layout. Plus, I’m not a metal player and everything I read led me to think of the Herbert as more of a metal amp. I’m sure it can be versatile.

A ts9 solves that on mine
