Finally made it to the party! Congrats on a badass, evil, and surprisingly versatile amp... I'm sure that you can tell the big differences between the Twin Jet and the Rev 2!

What kind of tubes are in it?

It sure is quiet up in here!! :D
It's been busy man, packing and loadind from morning till night, then, maybe a little noodling. Last night I actually played on it a bit, but at bedroom levels - doesn't really represent at bedroom levels. Kids are sleeping by 8pm so it's a bit topsy turvy and my manpod is knocked down and no longer available.

ARS EL34s, and original 13 year old 12AX7s (Chinese). Honestly? It needs new tubes and a re-bias. But this aside, it sounds good. It sounds mean. It sounds different and special. I've not even run it through the brand new UberKab that accompanied it in upon arrival. Everything is packed away or gone. So it's a ghetto set up (right, far from it) running 1 ESP NT-II, 1 Fryette D412, 1 Rev.2 and that's it. Simple. And it has to last me till I leave my home on the 12th or 13th.

Peace

Aw dude, ya man, we're leaving the country for 1+ years from Whistler BC down to Central America. Making our homebase in an awesome little surf town on the Pacific side of southern Costa Rica, with juants to Panama, Nicaragua and maybe El Sav throughout the year. I'm pulling the plug on my business, hanging my license for a year or so, and calling it a sabbatical. But basically, ever since I got the surf bug, I wanted to dedicate a year to the sport and culture and lifestyle. That was when I was single and not a dad.

Fastforward, so I'm married and the dad of two little girls now... My bucketlist wish is the same, I just have some extra people who'll be coming along for the ride. And they are fkn stoked

Sounds awesome! Are you bringing any of your rig down as well?

Nada.

I plan on picking up nylon flamenco while I'm down there, and the indigenous woods available are stunning and exotic. So my hope is to get into a few luthiers' shops or music stores and pick a nice example (or two) up. After that? Get better at the style of music that's down there - play at the beach, in the restaurant jam nights, get into Latin styles and beats, and just go with the flow.

No harm. I'll miss my gear, abso-fuckin-lutely, but the whole idea is to "be" there; and not try to bring "home" with me. A totally fresh slate, free mind, free of routine and all that I know as "the norm".

Fight Club, but instead of underground boxing organizations, it'll be surfing

So is it me, or do the first 2 versions of the Uber make more noticeable gain/saturation/distortion/wutever than the Twin Jet, or is my memory just "off?" Your year off sounds like a hoot. I imagine you'll go through a home sick phase, and once you get over it, the year will be gone before you know it. Should still be a cool experience though.

Couldn't get along with the rev 2, loved the twin jet though, congrats!

It's definitely an acquired taste. Out of all my Uberschall's it was the darkest/most 3D sounding, and I had great success recording with it but was still experimenting at the time I sold it using it live in a mix.

I remember when I first got it I noticed the presence control on one of the channel's affected the other, so Mo you might want to be on one of the channels and then crank the presence on the other channel and see if it alters the sound I'm not sure if it went in both directions or not but it happened on mine.

I remember calling Bogner about it and they had the schematics out and said it was normal lol.

Regardless congrats Mo.

I agree that the Rev 2 has a TON of treble and gain on tap, more than you'll ever need and definitely more than the Twin Jet. The Twin Jet records much more easily, though.

It sounds thick as hell. And this isn't even "tuned" to the way I'd ultimately want it tuned. I'm just hacking/slamming on it with what I've got. Put it this way, the VH4 is a $4000 amp new, the Rev.2s are about $2000 (give or take). People who buy the VH4 are usually addicted to its Ch.3 - and I can totally understand why. In the case of this Rev.2, its second channel is worth the $2000 entry fee. It's a single channel amp that slays - and I'm not paying 2x as much for it as I would the VH4. I say this because I am enamored with the Vs Ch.3 and I am EQUALLY enamored with this Rev.2s Ch.2 Hope that makes sense. They're both incredible - and again - this is with LIMITED time behind the Rev.2s wheel ;)

I doubt I'll get homesick :D

If tone was a box of markers, the Uberschall Rev 2 would be like coloring your canvas with one of these:

Yep. It's pretty outrageous. What I like so far with it is...everything

Congrats on the Rev2!

Have you considered some GoPro helmet cams or board cams for surfing?

It's pretty over the top in a lot of ways. It has balls and swagger for sure. Faintly Teutonic in how shameless it is with its boldness and hugeness...
