Who wouldn't want that waiting at home, tonal dominance every time. Very nice!

Wow, really awesome tones.
Especially with the Greenbacks you get this little chewy sagginess to it.

Question for the IIC+ aficionado's; will the Studio Preamp, Quad Preamp or Mark V come closest to this tone?

Congrats man and thank for the clips. I have dialed in your settings and appreciate you for sharing.

None, really. First off, he's got a DRG which has the Simulclass sag....so the power section is hugely important. Honestly the only option that 'might' approach a C+ is the no stripe Mk III with the 105 pt and the simul option. Unless you have the RP/SP 10 or 11 preamp board, you just can't get there totally but the carryover 105 pt into the no stripe will get part way there.
I haven't owned or played all of the others you mentioned, but before I started searching for a C+ I asked a few guys, Steve K and a few more who've owned multiple C+ and studio, quad, no stripe and Red stripe IIIs and they all said the same thing....get a real one.

I’m not sure if the no stripe came in simul class. I’ve mentioned before in other threads that my no stripe Coliseum sounded very close to my factory c+ hrg and after coming back from Mike B with the ++ mod it totally nails what my c+ does, but better with the extra horse power and additional ++ mode that’s switchable unlike on original iic’s or c+’s. I’ve had no need for any other Mark amp since. In fact, I’ll possibly even sell my actual iic+ in the future if it plateaus in value

I have 2 other blue stripe coliseums also modded to ++ by Mike B and they’re great, but don’t have the c+ voicing down even with the mod. I’ve tried all the various Mark iii stripes and to me only the early no stripe comes close to sounding like a iic+, so imo the 2nd best boogie amps I’ve tried

A friend just went through this and nope, the MKIII no stripe w/105 wasn't even close. It's currently for sale but for the tone above I've heard there are MKIII amps that can do it and I had one but it didn't have a 105, it had a export.

I’ve had the 2 side by side and can tell you it has everything my c+hrg has and more. When stock it was very close still. Not at all the case with the other mark iii’s I’ve had. I’ve admittedly not tried other no stripes, but the one I have nails it

For what it’s worth, my c+ is an hrg which I like since it’s more open and gritty than simul. If you’re preferred c+ is a simul or 60 watter then I agree a no stripe won’t sound like that stock or modded, but next to a hrg it absolutely does. I’ve not yet tried a 60 watt version but I know many love them, so would be cool to try one

When I’m back home after quarantine and have proper equipment I’ll try to make a clip comparing the 2. I guarantee no one will prefer the original I have to it. Bold statement, but I’m confident

It's the sum of the parts I know that and what you have I have too but sold my MKIII because I didn't need every amp made. I would need a bigger house for that lol

Hard to compare though, a coliseum to any amp with a smaller power section. The 2B coliseums I've owned do have an increased clarity, over their smaller counterparts. I think comparing my or another C+ Coliseum to your no stripe Coli would be a better comparo. But any Coli is a great amp to play and experience.

That’s all true and good points. I’d just add that the 2 blue stripes colis I had never sounded as good to me as my iic+ hrg whether stock or with their ++ mod. They did sound bigger and have that clarity and horsepower, but the voicing still isn’t there. Doesn’t quite have the c+ magic still. The no stripe with the ++ mod, on the other hand has the voicing identical to my c+ while sounding just bigger, but otherwise the same to my ears (although there’s also the ++ option on it). When I run the no stripe coil in lower power mode it sounded a little more like my c+, but still bigger

My only experience so far with Coliseums are the 3 I have and I tried psychodaves red stripe coliseum that I think also had the mod. Honestly, the blue stripe coli’s I have sound small next to the no stripe one even though they’re all colis with a ++ mod. Although all my colis and Wizard sound small next to my blueface lol. It’s kinda like going from one giant star in the universe and progressively on to the next one that’s even bigger

Good lord..I can't imagine that Blueface if it makes the Coli and Wizard sound smaller....

Can anyone talk about the differences between a DRG and SRG? Tone, feel, punch, clarity etc etc etc ? Strengths, weaknesses?

Yeah, run it’s master up high and keep the channel volume lower (like on the jubilees) and it’s just ridiculous. I still find myself playing my boogies and Marshall’s a little more often, but nothing sounds as heavy or big. My Hiwatt and Gjika actually sound every bit as big in their own way, but are more classic rock voiced. They don’t have the insane bottom end or obviously as much gain as the blueface, but they fill up the room as much if not a little bit more so and probably even shake the walls more than the blueface

The Wizard and Coli are tighter and more laser like, but the blueface fills up the room more and has a deeper, heavier bass when you turn the depth knob up high. It’s brutal
