@2dor - the dam is about to break

Looks like it's actually coming out in a future firmware release.

Neat. He mentioned he would include it in future hardware generations, cool to see it getting added now.

I still have my axe FX II from back when I was living in an apartment, but I only use it for effects now. NAM is really the only non-tube-amp thing I’m interested in, I’ve heard too much good stuff from people whose opinions I trust. I think it would be cool to shoot some captures of my own amps at various settings so I could swap between sounds more easily. I don’t gig so it’s low priority though.

Curious how the zealots of the church of fractal will take it, I browse that forum from time to time, and usually past mentions of adding capture tech are met with anger and smug dismissal.

It looks like most are warming up to it now that it's set to hit the Axe3; I've seen folks from the "old guard" be alright with it. At the end of the day, it's only going to make the unit better - it's one more cool thing that it can do.
Fractal played very well once more.

nice.

It seems Line 6 is determined to die on their proprietary Proxy hill. Hopefully that will change.

Headrush added NAM A2 support for their current gear with a firmware update.

They love it. They're all on board. Even the people who say they have no need for it because they already like Fractal's modeling enough on its own say they're happy the platform is being expanded for the people who want it.

The NAM zealots are way more annoying than the Fractal zealots, which says a lot.

But I am looking forward to this and it should make all the NAM zealots happy, since this seems like a boost for the tech. I assume Fractal sells way less units than Line 6 and QC, but the people they sell too are more likely to be really vocal about it on the internet.

I think it is great. I think capture tech sounds and feels better than modelers in general, and this is a great way to get NAM into a high spec unit with great effects and routing.

could the NAM presets work in the axe II or is it the III only?

It's a great addition, can't wait for it to come out. Scrapped my plan to get a new Quad Cortex till I see how this thing works.

Rerouting the NAM blocks onto the same core as the amp blocks is brilliant. That'll help supplement the amp blocks and borrow core processing time to help with the way the amp blocks feel under your fingers. Wait till they add more cores to the board. I got a couple of NAM blocks running on a pi5 right now. Sounds so good.

This is all just a preview so no one really knows how Fractal will implement this. That being said, I highly doubt Axe II. He is even saying they are not sure if it will also apply to the FM9, FM3, or AM4.

That is interesting. Is there a project or something you used for the Raspberry Pi? I have thought about playing with this.

I had been looking to buy cheap *ss mini pedal (valeton/sonicake) that can load NAM profiles for sh*t and giggles but this looks promising: NAM captures on a Fractal.

Anyone knows already if this would work on their AM4?

Most of those cheap pedals do their own conversion to a lower quality format than original NAM, or they are starting to use NAM A2-lite. If I went this route, I would at least look for something that can do NAM A2-full, like the Sonulab or Dimehead.

NAM is open source and doesnt require fractal snake oil to run. Its not their tech, they're using it. A linux environment and C++ DSP library is a good start. Theres a git-hub starter project or some shit on git-hub already. Google "raspi-nam".

So you can download a preset to your unit, sounds like an open door to virus problems.
