I have an original Jubilee. Yes it will cop those tones, and with the best eq ever on a Marshall(you can actually get a lot of low end) you can get 80s tones and drop the mids for some metal if you wish. You need to boost it though...but a simple eq pedal works well. I used a clean boost(Joyo Ultimate Drive) and a frown eq pedal(Danelectro fish n chips) for a few years. 60 bucks for both pedals. Its a great amp and with the right boosts can get you into 80s and beyond. I've played an AFD.....I'd take the Jubilee and its not close. Hell I liked the tone of my single channel 800 and an SD1 better than the AFD. Much more "full" tone IMO...

I'll look into it. I've been advised by other guys to not get a 100w amp to start with. I'm looking at the splawn super sport too. It sounds good on the demos.

If I where you I'd get a JetCity JCA22 head.It should get you what you want tonewise and is only a few hundred bucks new. Not a large upfront investment while figure out what your next amp will be down the road.

Don't shy from a 100 watt amp. Even if you think it's more power than you NEED, you never know when you may actually need that headroom. If you run the amp clean and use some pedals out front, having a good, clean 100 watts of headroom cannot be matched. Plus, if you ever do any outdoor gigs, you'll be glad you have that 100 watts on hand. Yes, it's overkill for many situations, but many amps today - even Marshalls - sound decent at room volume, unlike amps of yore that had to be cranked to sound good.

But there are many awesome lower wattage "lunch box" amps out there today that might fit your bill. I have a Mesa Boogie Mark 5:25 on my radar. That may be another one to consider.

^^^^ This^^^

The EQ on the Jubilee is OUTSTANDING! I played through an old one years ago and I couldn't believe how many variations of tone you could get with it!! Best EQ of any Marshall I've ever played. I think I'm going to have to pull the trigger on one in the near future......... :rawk:
