Need some advice on a Floyd equipped guitar

For what it is worth, FMIC and Floyd Rose both told me the Charvel tremolo uses the same quality steel as the German unit, only that it was not stamped in Germany. I have no reason to doubt that after having both models side by side.

The guy at Floyd Rose even pointed out how the Korean die was newer, so the saddle grooves were tighter vs the German mold.

I do however prefer the Schaller produced arm vs the Korean.

Is it strictly a Floyd you are after?

If you don't need insane dive-bombs, there are plenty of great alternatives. A PRS SE line guitar for example.

Actually, if I remember correctly they have also just brought out one with Floyd and EMGs... Maybe worth a look.

I have had no issues with the Korean made Floyds in almost three years of selling Charvels with them. I have replaced them with German Floyds that I had lying around on two of mine and I have to tell you, I was disappointed that I heard zero noticeable difference in tone. The arms on some of the Korean ones don't seem to want to stay screwed in all the way tight and are a little loose and sloppy, just like the old Floyds were until you pulled out that open ended wrench and pushed the trem bar all the way down and snuck that wrench under there to tighten which almost always resulted in cracked and chipped paint. Replacing the arm with the German made arm assembly for about $15 cures that.

The conventional wisdon on the Korean Floyds is that the German ones just have to be better but I can't tell why. They are also definitely NOT the Floyd Rose Specials. They are in between the Special and the MIG price-wise

I can't keep the Warren snake out of my head, I may have to speak with you yet Curt. I would want chrome hardware though :aww:

This is a korean guitar, but not cheap by any standards, stellar neck and great hardware. neck through, real floyd, Ebony board, Mahogany everything, EMGS,
PRS SE torrero. I am VERY impressed for the price

How about one of those ESP Les Pauls with a Floyd? Fast necks.

Get a good used EBMM Axis ($900 - $1300). Nice chuncky neck and they look way cooler than the wolfgang. They play and sound great too...

EB's are awesome guitars, but the neck on the axis is the smallest thing I've ever played.

How bout a JP6? Its not exactly a floyd rose, but the trems on them are great and they stay in tune. The piezo is pretty cool too if you've never used one.

I've owned both and both are great for any type of music. Try them out before you buy though.
