Interesting. I am wanting to try the Custom. I was looking for something that sounded similar to the Distortion, but with less splattery upper mids. The Custom looks mid scooped on paper. Its weird you say middy rock pickup. I am looking at it for chunk metal with more clarity than higher output Duncans.
I also find it funny you say the Invader has no mids! lol. I have one of these also, and that thing is ALL mids. It doesn't have upper mids, but it has mid-mids, and sounds like you always have a Tubescreamer on when using that thing.
You might look at the Tone Zone. My Charvel has one, and it doesn't sound too bad. It is full sounding, although I want to try a Duncan in there.
