that's 2 4x12's now...wish it was the one with k100's but oh well. once I get everything hooked up hopefully I will get some decent tones out of that ART unit in the tverb's loop. I have to order cables now. can't find my stash anywhere.

Congrats!
Those are super underrated cabs…same construction as the TV cabs with different appointments. Those V30s are closer to 65s than a regular V30 imo..darker like the Mesa OEM.

I’d rock the mode four, I’ve seen plenty of bands sound killer with that head too

I had a quad of those V30MF (aka Avatar 60L) at the same time as the 65s. Sure both had a smooth top end but that's where the similarities ended. The V30MF still has those V30 prominent upper mids, albeit shifted down a bit. A great speaker but overall, far away from any 65 to my ears.

I think it just varies on the type of 65(40 different cone codes?). I had a 1983 cab with the darker 65s than my 3120s, right next to the MF cab and they were more similar than different when I played them back to back. My 1988 cab with the 8 ohm vintages also sounds similar to my 3120 cab; almost like mixing a Mesa V30 with a 65.
