What does a Mesa w 88s sound like. It has to clean it up. Cuz they have great headroom ?
Like I posted earlier, the KT's really woke up my Dual Rec, MUCH tighter amp overall, we are talking VHT tight with a boost and some volume. Very clear, less fuzz than before, and the amp is very open sounding. Not to mention the boost in volume. But, that is pretty much what the big bottle tubes do to almost every amp, which is why I am a huge '88 fan and put them in almost everything I can.

the only problem I've got, is that with the pedal switcher, it only allows me to A/B two amps, but not run them in stereo at the same time. I still have to use a separate A/B/Y pedal to do that. The problem with that is turning either amps on or off is still not MIDI controlled, which is not acceptable. :D Thinking I might have to go with a GCX if I want full midi control. Any other ideas?

ive got the little dual switcher from lehle http://www.lehle.com/frameset.php?country=us&lang=en its soo good, no noise, run my diezel einstein with my soldano slo, can play either or both at the same time, no noise when switching! :)

i love that album

Lately I've had a chance to try different heads ran in stereo with the Herbert and I have found that the Bogner Uberschall TJ is a REALLY good match with the Herbert.

The Framus Cobra also sounded really good with the Herbert, especially with low tunings, since the Cobra is such a heavy amp. Interesting mix of super clean hi gain, and very fizzy aggressive gritty gain.

The VHT CLX and Herbert did not work well at all. I just can't seem to get a strong midrange tone dialed out of my CLX, and with that made it not match well with the Herbert for me.

The Uberschall TJ just seems to sound the best. On it's own, I don't like how midrang-ish that amp is, which I believe is mainly due to the previous owner having a brain fart and putting EL34's in it, but for some reason it just meshes with the Herbert so well.

This rig is eerily similar to mine as you know :D :D :D :D Looks SWEET!!!!

I still can't believe you didn't like the CLX with the herbie. Although, I've never (unfortunately) played a CLX, maybe it is THAT much different than the UL, as my UL sounds absolutely crushing with the herbert!!! I bet that TJ is awesome though, Another amp I would love to try/own!

Lately, I have also been running my 6505 with the Ultralead, and I'll tell ya what, that is just as, if not more mindblowingly brutal than the UL with the herbert, I REALLY(!!!!!!) like this combo as well!

i have a herbert and years ago i also had a vht ul and played them together but i didnt really like how they sounded together, i thought my splawn quickrod and herbert sounded awesome together.

The CLX and UL aren't all that different. My CLX is just one of those amps where one day I play it and think it rips and another day I just sit there turning knobs because I'm not happy with it. I hate that.

One thing, is that you are using VHT cabs with I would assume the stock P50s. I was trying to use my CLX through my Diezel cabs with V30's. I think my CLX sounds better through the fat bottom with P50's than V30's.
