When the FM3 first came out lots of folks complained about only 3 foot switches
and then someone tossed out the idea of actually welding an FM3 and the FC6
foot controller together.

It was just announced today.
More horsepower than the FM3, but still, this is lame.
Scroll wheels and arrow keys are so outdated now with first the Headrush and
then Quad Cortex setting the new UI standards for modelers imo.

Yep,
Those different shaped buttons and their clicking..sorta like the sound of alarm clock
buttons..
This guitar player I jammed with a few
times who was a guitar instructor'aire'
owned a few of those devices.
I gave it a go with my rendition of
"Black Napkins"....
He asked me "So what do you think of my
Axe FX man?"
I replied "It doesn't make you a better guitar instructor if that's what you're getting at".
I have this "Boonedock Saints" vendetta towards
guitar instructors.
You bastards.

The irony of this is...it's so Zappa.

35 used FM3's on Reverb as of this morning.

Bonus points to @Dino 939 for squeezing Black Napkins and Boondock Saints into the same reply.

Yeah the max exodus to sell FM3s begins lol. ..... I just bought my FM3 a few weeks ago. Its ok though, Im really enjoying it. I dont see myself buying an FM9 yet. As far as I understand they sound the same its juts you have more options. Only thing I would really like is to be able run dual amps on the FM3 but I dont actually know if that would sound any better than just tweaking one amp block to sound best. I get a great tone with a single block at the moment.

@the4thlast1

I've messed around with multi-amps a lot in the past and never thought a pair sounded
any better than just using a single one. In all honesty I think it's just another tempting rabbit
hole to get lost in - like with those 2,000 IRs your FM3 came with.

If I find a great amp model, or profile, or capture, I just stick with it instead of playing the
mix and match amp game for literally HOURS on end. :D

I really like this unit. Pretty much what I have always wanted all along. I'm good with using the menus and buttons on the unit. It would be great to have a touch screen and bluetooth but it does not bother me in the end. The performance pages are where I do any adjustments when I am using it live. I know which IRs that I like and use and those are what I stick with and they always sound great. I like the fact that it has an internal power supply and not a stupid wall wart.

I tried the Q Cortex that a friend has and it is nice unit as well. Lots of great features on it.

It is definitely scratching the itch for pretty much any FM3 owner, or the
AXIII owners who didn't go for the 3 cause they felt it limited.

It's actually long overdue for the company and it definitely puts them
up alongside with The Stage and QC and far as functionality.
(let's face it, in hindsight only 3 switches was a terrible idea)

Guess I'm just getting tired reading the TGP fanbois crowing crazily how
this is the answer to the QC and that Neural should just fold up shop now
that the FM9 is here.

Im glad to hear Donnie B sayin the dual amp thing wasnt a big deal for him. So just so I got this straight for someone like me who is happy with the fm3 : only difference would be the added 6 footswitches and the ability to put more effects in one present?

On my Axe II I never found the dual amps to be super useful. I mostly used 2 amps if I had one clean and one high gain, and I switched between them in scenes. There is less gap in switching than using X/Y like this.

However, it can be fun if you run completely stereo, and you pan two different amps to opposite sides.

It's got more processing so ya, you can load up chains and not worry about limits like
some do with the 3.

If you don't have any CPU limits issues now then maybe an option would be getting an FC6.
I think there's going to be a lot of them posted on Reverb over the next few days!

For sure! I have an Axe III and FC6 but to be honest with you I am trying to reduce some floor space when I play live and in my space at home and carry one less thing. The thing I really liked about my friends QC was the profiling of the amp. It was really, really solid.

I like being about 2 technological generations behind, I feel that I pay a fraction of the price to access the technology and ultimately get 95% of the overall usage of the tech, as I believe that the majority of early adopters to new guitar technology use only a small portion of what is even possible on the devices.

Normally I'd agree.
But the differences between the UI's is night and day.

If they were telephones, it's like the QC is the updated touch tone while Fractal continues to recycle rotary dials.
It only took 24 hours over in the FM9 thread on TGP for the rumblings to start about the UI and also the size.

The FM3 is already beyond the Quad Cortex (which has super mediocre effects), so the FM9 is very interesting to consider. I'm happy with the FM3, but what intrigues me is being able to blend two different amps.
