New Ozzy

I heard this song on his Sirius/XM channel the other day and I thought it was great! Best thing he’s done in ages. His singing/melody lines definitely brought back a Sabbath feeling. a more vintage vibe going on, it’s funny how they went for a modern stoner rock guitar sound... that’s like full circle with the Sabbath influence

I guess there are either no Sabbath fans here, or you just can't hear the similarity to SBS and Sabotage albums?
I think it's the best stuff he's put out in many many years.
If the whole album sounds like this, it will be great.

Totally agree! Good stuff!! Man, I didn't realize until you mentioned it that it does sound alot like some of the Sabbath stuff.

The chorus actually reminded me of this song's chorus:

I liked it. No shame here.

From another comment, I would love to hear Ozzy with Jake again. I know a lot of people are hardcore RR fans, but I loved Ozzy (post sabbath anyways) best with Jake.

It's alright. The last Ozzy album I liked was Bark at the Moon but even then I preferred Diary and Blizzard. I'm wondering if they used some kind of autotune or sped up his voice a little? Can he seriously still hit those high notes still? As for the song, I seriously think it would have sounded better if it was mixed better. The drums sound way too thin and tin sounding, no power to them at all. And the guitar tones were a bit too modern for me, the solo sounded like something White Stripes might have played lol. But hey, Ozzy is Ozzy so power to him

Everything was on its way down after Bark at the Moon. IMO. I like old Sabbath the best, followed by the RR stuff. Zakk is beyond overrated.

I dig the lyrics! Ozzy's "sick as hell" voice never goes out of style! Not sure what Andrew Watt was thinking on the lead?!

I liked it. Following his personal evolution throughout his career has been enlightening and a pleasure. Cheers to him and all the mind bending lyrics he’s given

Heard this song, 'Under the Graveyard' and some of the back ground on it today on the radio. Looking forward to checking out some the more 'Sabbathier' songs as well. I can't believe it has been 9 years since his last album. I kind of dropped off somewhere around Ozzmosis I guess. I'm happy for him. I have tickets to see him in June on the No More Tours Tour. Not sure who will be taken out on the road but I'm sure you will recognize those that contributed to this song at least. Don't know about the rest of the album.

Personnel
Ozzy Osbourne – vocals
Andrew Watt – guitar, production
Duff McKagan – bass
Chad Smith – drums

I heard that song the other day and really dig it! The verses and pre chorus reminds me of Randy-era Ozzy or even a Jake-era feel. The only thing I don't care for is the distorted guitar in the chorus. Sounds like a guitar part you would hear on an Rob Zombie song. I like the feel of the song with the creepy graveyard theme and the flow, etc. I like the reverb on the vocals, etc. too.

This to me is better than the "Let me Hear You Scream" kind of stuff. With 80s type guitar parts, I think this would smoke.
Agreed except for the guitar comment. I love this distorted John 5 chorus type thing. That's exactly what I thought of.

Let Ozzy Live. If he can't make music and tour, he dies.
Yep.

I mean, he is like 70 years old so we have to give him a little credit.

Exactly.

Who's playing guitar? Tom Morello? Wheres the shred, 9 years later and your dumbing down the guitars from the typical ozz? Soloing sounds like it wasnt meant to be intense at all. Maybe I'm to spoiled by Ozzys iconic players. And if he(ozzy) can hit those notes I'll buy the entire rigtalk community a beer! Sounds like it's something that wasnt released and got pulled out based on the vocals. It sure isnt missing any production efforts on the mix. Now the guitar is a mystery to be honest. Has an Iommi feel in a sense in some spots and a Morello effects approach. Just my Penny's worth

I loved the Zakk write the riffs and Gus G execute it approach on Scream. That was actually my favorite release from OZ
This stuff is quite different. I guess kudos for inspiring the Oz to put out another disc but not sure if I dig this hipster sabbath attempt on the guitar music side of things.

id bet this was pulled from the vault. No telling when this was really recorded. He cant sing like now not live anyway maybe 2000 takes one word at a time in the studio aka vince neil

dont like the style.... heard the rap thing he did with the people he put this album together with and about choked on my own vomit

Just listened to “Straight to Hell.” Was Watt responsible for production solely, cuz its utter garbage and not even listenable. I’m kinda in shock that something topped Death Magnetic for worst. It farts out all over the place and sounds like a Washburn fuzz pedal was put on bus track, everything besides vocals.

Maybe that's "post modern" ? lol
We need a post millennial to chime in here

I think this could be recent. His live technique was always borderline terrible, even in his better days. His studio stuff is generally solid...reminds of DLR in that way. Live is all about showtime and "c'mon, I can't hear you!" and nothing about vocal prowess

Slash does the outro solo. But yeah, I can't tell if this stuff is old vault material or not. I also can't tell if it was produced this way on purpose or not but I get what you guys are saying about the production. Guess what? I don't care because honestly I'm surprised he is even still alive AND putting out music. Looking forward to seeing him (and hopefully Zakk) in June when they roll through.

I'm sure most of you have heard already but Ozzy was recently diagnosed with a form of Parkinson's. I'm supposed to see him in June if the tour holds up.

Wishing him the best.

"If you saw me at the beginning of last year you'd think I was fucked. But I honestly think making this album is the best medicine I could have had."

Yea I saw that too. Wasnt sure it was legit with the news these days. Damn , I hope it's fake news,

I have a grandfather with Parkinson's and my favorite professor was (he was 82 and still teaching at the University), and there are a lot of good treatments that can really slow down its progression. God bless Ozzy. Parkinson's won't take Ozzy, Ozzy will take Parkinson's.

under the graveyard does sound like it could have been left over from the Ozzmossis album. That album had a few classics on it IMO, and this song has that same feel to it. By the way, pitch shifter guitar solos are totally "in" right now. I blame jack white for this latest round.
