yes, tube driven.

here's a heavier clip, more to come....

Not to patronize you...but...that clip sound great. Has a new metal tone to it, yet has a vintage tone as well.

That was the whole idea. There are many high gain
amplifiers out there that are doing the same thing,
but not the vintage side mixed in.
I love this amp, I have about another 4 hrs to go
and mine is ready!

Excellent stuff, Doug. I really dig the treble response here.

Holy crap that sounded great!!!
Really dug the Jeff Beck clip, serious nut busting tone going on there.

EL34's ??? Will there be a 50 watt version ???

You'll have to find the thread on HC with pics, but I think that is a 50 (or so) watt version. I only saw two EL34's. So you're buying one then, right? Hmmm, we don't have the cop with the nightstick smiley here...

they all do. I stuck that one on for a customer.

Sounds good, very vintagey but not aggressive enough to be a metal amp IMO.

You know thats the thing I liked about it was that it has a modern flavor in that it does have some teeth but retains the vintage vibe. Then again I'm not a metal player but I do write some heavy stuff that isnt fast so I dont know about if its good for metal. I'll say this Mastadon is my favortite metal band right now and Brent Hinds uses a JMP with a tube screamer and gets great metal tones so I guess it's all in what you call "metal".

I've got the modern/vintage hybrid thing covered with my Wizard. Mastodon is cool, but they always have a sludgy late 70s stoner rock tone. They're playing metal with a hard rock tone which is fine, but far removed from what I consider to be a metal tone (enhanced pick transients, super tight low end, grinding non fuzzy high end, lots of saturation, etc).

Like I said when it comes to people talking about a tone is good for metal its all in what you call "metal" or IMHO better yet what genre of metal you are refering to.
