Just use your loop return volume as your master volume.. either jumper the loop or throw a pedal in there(doesn't have to be on). Open up return volume to the point where its at bedroom volume... and you can always go UP from there..lol.

Ah, ok. If I jumper the loop or throw in a pedal, I presume I need to engage the Loop Bypass Switch? That's the only time the Loop Volume knob works, right?

Sorry for the dumb questions. Playing 30 years and still done know this kind of stuff. Thanks!!

There are no dumb questions.... unless your charveldan :D   . Happy to help if able to. Cheers

Just did all those things and it made a difference. The loop volume works great! Still, I could tell it wanted to be opened up full throttle. I had it in Half Power mode and on 4ohms thru my 8ohm cab.

The tubes seemed to be pretty hot after about 30 minutes; is this normal or is that maybe because of how I was running it??

It's not a low volume amp, butnifnyou wanna jam at home with it, it's possible.

The real test will be with band jam.

Tubes are gonna be hot... get that iron working... As long as they aren't redplating your good. Cheers

I put the amp back in full power this morning and in 8ohms. Ran the master at 10oclock, Solo at 9, and engaged the loop volume control set at 9. Sounded much better at the lower volume setting.

Last night when I did the above settings in half power/4ohms, it was a bit fizzy.

One thing I noticed this morning is there is a lot of amp hiss, but that could be a number of reasons I'll try to sort through later. Could be power in my loft, the crap cords I'm using, or it could be preamp tubes. I'm not running it super high gain, either. I know these amps are supposed to be dead quiet.

More to come.

Agreed. Get a ground reader plug in at Lowe's or home depot for $2. amp should have no hiss.

Could be a preamp tube or a guitar/speaker cable. My Quick Rod is not noisy at all..

Well, I'm at the jam studio and tried several outlets. Same noise in the link above. Then I just tried every preamp tube and the amp still has a bad hiss. Even on Gear 1 with the gain at noon. Pretty frustrating. I'm going to call Splawn tomorrow.

...actually, it's not as bad as I initially thought. It's got HUGE balls!
