I think the current lineup has kept the flame alive. They take the classic Whitesnake sound and put a new spin on it.
That is just it though. The eighties are gone, never to return. However, the bands are still here and rockin'... and it's great to see them adding some modern flair to their sound without sacrificing what made them awesome in the past. This is true not just for Whitesnake, but also for bands like Ratt or Dokken as well IMO.

I also agree with the post above about David Coverdale not requiring any more close ups... there comes a time where all the makeup in the world can't save you...

Reb seems pretty content being a shadow in the background it seems...

are they all using Suhr amps now instead of just Reb?

It's all Suhr/Golub mods in Doug's rig these days... I much preferred his Cameron tone. The Suhr/Golub tone is not my thing at all.

Not at all.. Doug used ALSO his usual main rig, but he also used various things like a RR Marshall, a 18w and a 30w Suhr amps and a Marshall Class 5. He also mentioned a Line6 in a recent interview... you will probably hear something different on the next tour..

Yeah i saw he mentioned that on his forum about using various amps on the record. I meant in his live rig when he's out on tour, it's pretty much just his main Suhr and Golub modded Marshalls and a VM head

I heard the new album a few times Dougs tone is very buzzy and bottom end heavy, the whole album has way too much bottom end IMO

When Sykes left Whitesnake, they were done for me.

when Sykes joined Whitesnake they were done for me. Actually he re-played some guitar on Slide It In and that was a great disc...
