Well, what can I say. I've wanted one of these since I first saw one years ago and I finally pulled the trigger. Haven't even really gotten to play it, yet, long day at work. The neck is a little thicker than I'd normally prefer, but it feels comfortable. It's light, too, under 8 lbs. I'll follow up here tomorrow after I get a chance to spend some time with it.

Pickups are stock 498T/490R which I may keep or may not. Started a thread on that here... https://www.rig-talk.com/forum/threads/what-pickups-for-a-flying-v.338115/

And finally a family shot.

I would probably call in sick tomorrow if I had just scored an axe like that. Congrats man, it's beautiful. Can't wait to hear your thoughts but I bet those stock pickups will rip some Albert King licks just fine.

Nice guitar!

A really good, underrated pickup is the Gibson 70's Pickup. The name is misleading. Its a modern Alnico 5 15K Bridge Pickup (they have neck too) and is very tight on the bottom, fat and has sweet highs. Gibson's description indicates it's for modern music, although it's branded as a 70's pickup. Its the Stock pickup in the 70's V and Explorer reissue guitars. The downsides are that its only 2 conductor, and it is uncovered. I however bought gold covers for my black 70's V

I've done that before, although thankfully since I have the ability to work remotely at my discretion, and my nominal ~boss is 500 miles away, it's no big deal.

Guitar-Coffee mornings, I love 'em!

In fact, today is one. 😉

This room is basically a lifetime accomplishment! Even if you didn't play music, just assembling this room is awesome!

Every time I get a new guitar, I take it as a challenge to write a new song or at least record something that shows its strengths. Sometimes just one guitar (recorded on 6 tracks, panned all over) to hear the full tonal range of that guitar, which sometimes gives me an idea for the song it would fit best for starters.

That's a badass v collection.

The thing I love most about my custom shop v and the lpcs is the thicker neck.

Now that is an absolutely gorgeous V Mr Churchhill! WOW!:2thumbsup::clap: Congrats on the NGD!

My old one was ebony black with a white pickup just a standard V, I just couldn't get comfortable playing it so as much as I loved how it looked it I sold it.

Dude! Back when I started playing in 1984/85, the small local store had a purpleburst Flying V exactly like yours on the left! I always lusted over that guitar (and many others.) Cool!

Also, you cannot beat the look of a Flying V Custom. I love that. Congrats!
I had one of those I bought off a military buddy of mine for like $300 or something. Like an idiot I sold it. I wish I still had that guitar.

I wonder if it has more of a Les Paul 59 profile neck since it's a custom which would be a little beefier that the standard profile neck, either way Mr Churchill that's a stunning addition to the collection! Is the V on the far right a Korina body?

I think I love the V body tailpiece the most!:2thumbsup::yes:

That's good to know... I've looked at those and been curious. Don't care about 2 conductor for this one, I'm happy with the 2V1T as-is, and yeah, easy enough to install covers.
