So when I worked at Guitar Center back around like 07ish, it was customary to hate PRS guitars. Some good things from Fender, some good things from Gibson, twice the price of either while somehow not being as good as either of their contemporaries. One of the guys there won a contest and got a free US Single Cut he promptly sold back to the store as a used guitar. Also, it was customary to hate PRS because only dentists or lawyers bought them, no one actually played them live or did anything actually musical with them other than shitty early 00s alternative rock and nu metal bands, but fuck those guys, they didn't play solos...what did they know about gear? I'm a Nissan 300ZX guy, Nissan law requires I hate Supras. It's one of those kinds of things.

Anyways, I've liked Warrior guitars for years (fortunate enough to have 2) and they are very strongly inspired by the traditional PRS double cut; 25" scale, same type of violin carve, similar headstock, high end woods/finishes, etc. For some reason, I got the bug yesterday to want to look at PRSs, even though every bit of me has been convinced to hate them. The 2 I checked out at Guitar Center today, I posted in my other thread about how they felt like toys, just cheap junk compared to what I usually play. They're great for someone who's only been playing a few years and wants a high quality guitar with nice appointments, but when you're used to eating steak everyday, you can't go back to eating Steak-Umms.

My friend, who I used to build guitars with (and may get to start back actually) finally responded today with me questioning him about PRS, as he's a big PRS fanboi. He was like I've got 3 here, feel free to come check them out. So I went to his house and checked 'em out. He has an 04, I think it was, cherry burst CE22, a newer Custom 24 in a brown finish that looks like their black gold finish, but I think he said it was called tiger something er other, then he had a newer Custom 24 Piezo. Even the "cheap" CE22 was miiiiiiiiiiiles ahead of those SEs. The guitar was beefy and just heavy enough to feel like a good blunt weapon to defend yourself if you had to, but light enough to pick up and play. He said he had lightly sanded down the neck, but the maple neck felt so smooth and comfortable. It was a little more substantial than a "thin" neck, but not a baseball bat at all. That brown Custom 24 was probably my favorite of the bunch, it was a 10 Top along with the other Custom 24. It played and felt just a wee bit better than the CE22, and the Piezo one felt very similar. The CE22 pickups sounded a bit warmer and bassier, not quite as bright or clear, but they all 3 sounded great.

So anywho, I'm not going to sell all my guitars and only buy PRSs, and sell my amps to buy just Archons, but I do fancy the thought of owning a couple CEs or Customs. Not quite sure the McCarty 594s would be for me, but I shouldn't have been hating on PRS at all. They play so great and feel very comfortable, at least the USA Core models.

I know Jay, the guy who makes Warrior guitars. Fine instruments. He hooked up my good friend years ago with some basses, always tried to get me to buy one of his guitars but just never did. Probably should have. Good luck with the PRS's.

The S2s are really good too, they just need some love in the pickups here, tuners there, etc

The core PRS models are always amazing though bro, can't go wrong

Just don't get a lame diarrhea burst please

The fruit roll up burst would look amazing paired with some tall black leather rocker boots and pink spandex.

God damn those finishes are so gross. PRS has some beautiful ones though

The golf course green, whaleburst, and all their purples and blacks are all killer

God damn those finishes are so gross.
It's like they mix all the last little bits of paint from almost empty cans on a really expensive guitar.

Congrats, they are really great playing and feeling guitars. I had a similar notion. I’m a Super Strat guy through and through, don’t like Fender or Gibson models either. But wanted to try a different shape so bought a CE24 in 2017…fast forward 9 years later and I now have a bunch of them

Bro, if you take a trip to Canada, they will gladly put you out of your misery.

Unfortunately, Jay passed away a couple weeks ago ☹️
Oh man, lost track of him last few years. I grew up shopping in his family's music store. That's the store I always talked about on here that had used Plexi's stack three or four high, three or four rows for dirt cheap back decades ago. Who knew what they were worth back then as everyone wanted the new Marshalls. Got my '78 Paul Stanley PS-10 Iceman from them, several Marshalls.

Sad indeed. Everybody in the Chatt music scene knew of Jay and his family. RIP.

Great timing!

Dockers just went on sale.

if you’re going legit tan pants core model, gotta go with Peter Millar or maybe Vuori or whatever overpriced pants match the aesthetics.
I always match my pants to whichever PRS I’m playing that day, it’s just proper etiquette
