The Ball Family Reserve Petrucci's have a Mahogany tone block that runs through the body. Would like to see how much difference that makes.

none really. Especially if you're using tons of gain. I played a couple of BFR's along side my JP6 and couldn' tell much of a difference. I see the BFR's as just a figured top version of teh JP6. That $900 or so just pays for the fancy wood.

step 2 is to ditch those pickups and put something good in it. I've got a motor city AFWAYU and Detroiter being built for mine.

Cool! Thanks for the info.

Not sure about the Dimarzios yet, I've only had the guitar a few days, so I'll give it some time before I rip it apart!! :D

Will be looking forward to your thoughts once you get your new PUs. I think I saw a vid of you playing your Mystic Petrucci through a Jet City amp. Sounded really good!!

Cool guitar!!
I also love my Petrucci, it's the best guitar I've ever had.

Welcome to the dark side! :) Dargie II Green is where it's at... I'll be changing out my pickups in my old JP6 for the newer DiMarzios that are in the Dargie - I LOVE them - MUCH better pickups IMO.

Here's where I first laid eyes on one which in turn had me so obsessed to get one I sold everything that wasn't bolted down to get one before they quit taking orders for them.

Take a picture of it with a flash - it's trippy...

  I bet that ebony neck is sswweeeeeeeett. Mine was rosewood and was killer fast, I can only imagine how fast the ebony is. Really nice score

That guitar looks amazing! Is that a piezo?

The green is just sick and the finish/flake is amazing. Pictures really don't do it justice like with most guitars... Yes it has a piezo system.

If any of you are ever interested in buying a Music Man guitar, I bought mine from Bass Central in Florida. They are SUPER nice to deal with and reply super fast to emails.

I highly recommend them.

:)

Do you guys string your Petrucci's with 10's???

I believe thats what mine came with. I am seriously considering 9s tunes half a step down.

Yes!!! That's what I want to hear!! I really like 9's, tuned to E flat!!

CONGRATS!! Great looking axe. Love the ebony, I wish I had that option.

I love my 2007 BFR. All JP's are amazing guitars. All have sustain for days. The BFR has a few differences other than the mahogany tone block and the figured tops. The BFR also has a mahogany painted neck, thinner lower horn in shape, and for comfort, a less dramatic and gradual role to the top where your arm touches the body. Since I tune it drop D a half step down I use a set of hybrid Ernie Ball strings (9-46) but replace the 46 with a 52. Also, the tremolo is wonderful. It makes palm muting comfortable and exceptionally easy to control.

I am a sucker for orange/copper/lava colored guitars. My custom Anderson Drop Top will be in Burnished Orange Burst. I can't wait!!
