Beautiful Guitar!

A friend of mine is lending me his 81' BB Custom while he's out of town. 3 PUPs, wired so middle is out of the chain on the bottom tone pull.

I don't typically like Les Pauls but this one is very nice.

Good score.

I would keep it original to that year and keep the original knobs.

I'd like to keep it as original as possible but it's already missing the original Tim Shaw bridge humbucker and I'm tearing out the pots because 300k's make it sound like there's a blanket over it. 500k's are a huge improvement.

Originality is cool but playability is cooler.

Agreed. Just keep the original parts in case you ever want to restore it to its original shape.

Otherwise, mod the ^%$#@! out of it to suit YOUR tastes......

nice score ! I am looking for a black custom myself. I have a white 84 custom similiar to yours and I dig the built in string winders on the tuners, do u dislike them? I remember they never caught on. I have the orig shaws in mine still but the bridge hum is very noisy so I think I am gonna swap it out.

Very very nice guitar. I would love an 84, myself. I was close to buying a wine red one a couple years ago. They were so cheap then... damn, I should have bought it.

Congrats!! Nice guitar  I think I would swap out the pots and lower that bridge pickup before swapping it out, just a thought.
I am jealous!

New look for the LPC! Had a '57 Classic neck/Burstbucker 3 bridge set laying around so I thought I'd throw them in and see how they do. I haven't had a chance t crank it up yet but so far it seems like the '57 is really bottom heavy while the BB3 is the total opposite.

I'll give them another go soon and see how I like them.

^ Nice rack of guitars. What Laney amp is that?
Thanks.

My buddy works for a musical gear distribution company and he sends gear home with me to try out for a while in exchange for an honest opinion. I think the amp is a VC30 or something.

The Fernandes Strat in the very back is part of the same deal.

I scored some nickel covered 36th Anniversary Dimarzio PAF's (my favorite pickups at the moment) for the '82 LPC over the weekend. While I'm waiting for them and the new BCS guitars electronics kit to show up I decided to pull the old pickups and electronics out of it and prep it for the new stuff.

The guitar had a hum which really surprised me as it's a humbucker equipped guitar. The hum made sense when I removed the electronics to find that there was no ground wire running to the tailpiece post. Quick fix, though. I pulled the tailpiece post, drilled a hole, ran a wire through, sandwiched it against the tailpiece post - done and done. Hopefully this and fresh electronics fix the hum completely.

Nice guitar ! I love to chrome and white binding. I need to get a LPC some day

And wait a minute...... 1982 is your birth year? I started high school in 1981 and met some very friendly girls there.........

Son? :)

There was no LP production when I was born, the SG was the answer back then according to gibson
Yup, same deal here

This makes two of us! Can't wait to get it wired up and ready to go. Should be done by Thursday.

Updated look and sound with Dimarzio 36 Anniversary PAF's (my favorite pickups)!

Nice guitar! I like the chrome hardware on there. It gives it a John Sykes vibe.

Come on, tell us what you really think of that Medieval torture device. :D
