Since this is a SEVEN string thread and anything goes, I have a question. I have an EMG 81-7 and have yet to install it in anything. I have EMG 707's in my two guitars now. What can I expect with this pickup when compared to the 707?

It's tighter and less bassy than the 707, IMO. I prefer the 81-7 for the bridge in my RG, although with 6-strings the 85 sounds better (on which the 707 is based).

Thanks man! Those two are neck-through, not set neck so the neck runs all the way through the body.

This is the bolt on I have in progress These pics are before clear coat... it's also a shame the back of the horn carve doesn't really show up in the pics well as the fret access on it is going to be awesome.

Cool. Yah I've just had very good success with bolt-in necks and I'm no fan of bolt-on.
Ex:

Typical bolt-in where the neck pup is mounted right onto the neck stern and onto the body for maximum resonance and sustain.

I really do not like the 707 at all for my style. I have not heard an 81-7 but I would imagine since it is basically an 81 that it would be tighter with a bit less output than a 707 since that is really an 85. My friend has a very nice ESP NT-7 that had 707s in it and it sounded sloppy with this weird slappy tone. He put Blackouts in it and it is a whole different story. Sounds killer now. Totally just my 2 cents.

The 707 has an almost single coil tone to it at times. It's kinda bizarre.

I think I am going to sell this one because the neck is too fucking fat for me.

I sold my '03 Gixxer 1000. Got some coin for some new gear.

And yah, when I was looking for a 7 the Schecter definitely has a fat neck. The Agiles are all 11/16" at the first fret - nice thin and fast.

That drop top tom anderson 7 with the flame top and floyd is out of this world! I also like the slsmg type Jackson 7 a lot too.

I only have a lowly Ibanez RG 7421, but it has Blackouts now. Its actually pretty cool for a cheapie. Used to have a 7620 that was really cool.

I toy with the idea of selling all my sixs and just going 7....can't quite pull the trigger though.

Yeah I like them alot Tom. Seeing that Anderson 7 has my wheels spinning right now....could sell my LP and get one possibly.

I have a 7620 with BKP Miracle Mans. I freaking love it. First ever 7, I have played 6's for years and am now wondering why, why, why I waited this long. This guitar is a refin which is just OK. It is a frosty white color that glows reds/pinks/purples/greens. The refin is nicked on the edge behind the bridge and flaking off a bit. Wouldnt mind having it swirled or something. The MM's sound terrific. This is also a very versatile guitar with the 5 way. Here is a pic from seller. I am in standard tuning with a low B.

Tom only does very limited runs of them every once in a while. Not sure when he is going to do another one. Best thing to do is contact Roy at Anderson.
