I think this are going to post huge from my ipad...lets test this out.

Alright, I'll play ball......

Here's a Tele I had custom-built in 2008. Specs are as follows:

* Black korina back/body
* Straight-cut swamp ash top
* Vintage gloss finish on body
* Standard American Tele 4-bolt neck
* Fender "F" locking tuners
* Fender "F" neck plate
* Gotoh Tele bridge
* Custom-cut single ply black Tele pick guard, routed for H+H
* Seymour Duncan JB in bridge positon, Seymour Duncan Jazz in neck position
* Three-way switch on upper bout selects bridge, both or neck pickups
* One volume, one tone control. Pot placement largely approximates that of a Strat
* Volume pot is a push/push. When in the down position, both pickups are run as humbuckers; when in the up position, both pickups are run as single coils
* Tone pot is a push/push. When in the down position, both pickups are accessible via the three-way switch on the upper bout; when in the up position, acts as a "kill switch" for the neck pickup (therefore, when the three-way switch is toggled between the middle position and neck position, the guitar is able to get the "stutter effects" often associated with a dual pickup Les Paul with the neck pickup volume turned all the way off)
* Les Paul square jack plate

Basically, I wanted a Tele body style with a Les Paul's electronics, with a tonality in between the two guitars. This was the result!.....

Notes and disclaimers:
1.) The Gretsch Silver Falcon in the above photo now belongs to Bill ('rupe'). Thankfully, I still have a few Falcons in the stable. ;)
2.) I cannot be held responsible for any ancillary Gibson or Gretsch GAS this post might incite. :lol: :LOL:

I'm looking for something better as well for my Tele.
What do you think of the Twang King/ Chopper T combo?

dont know why my pics didnt show up, anyways, edited to reflect.

i love the specs of the twang king, and the chopper T has the 4 wires.

i put a 70's gibson pickup in mine in the neck, and it just sounds sooooo good.

but i still have yet to find a bridge pickup that i like for it.

might go for that chopper.

I have the Twang King set in my American Standard. I had a handful of boutique pups in it before and you will not find a better set for the $$$. After hearing them, I would pay twice what they cost. The neck is perfection and the bridge gives me a more "rawk" broadcaster sound. The "Twang" in the name is deceiving IMO.....it's thicker and middier than the typical tele bridge. The Chopper T is killer as well if you want more meat and output. I loved it as well.....but not for what I use my Tele for.

If you want a balls out rock n' roll bridge, check out the BG A3 Rockwind.

nah, im looking for something that will more or less accenuate the maple top and give the guitar some more life......pop and snap...

not as subdued as the jerry reed sound, but sort of that kind of vibe.

Had this MIJ contemporary Tele for a long time. The color has grown on me, though I can totally see why many would hate it. It is a strange tele by all accounts, but I like it. Fender has come out with some that are similar in the past few years.

Wife found this when she was antique shopping. Still had the plastic on the pick guard. Early 2000's American in MINT condition.

Was it in an estate sale or something? Did she get a good deal on it? :confused:

It's an antique store. She called me and said they had a Fender guitar I needed to come look at. I was all excited hoping it was one on those deals where it was a 50's or 60's model for dirt cheap. It was still cool. Paid $700.

Just finished up a chinese buffet dinner, so I'm gassy, but no reason you shouldn't be gassy as well. here's my stable!

Are those real wide range pickups or something new? I understand that Novak does his version of the wide range, but it's not the same magnet.

thanks so much, man. your review is great. What would you say the main difference in tone is between the Chopper T bridge and the Twang King bridge?
