Exactly. It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard, like ever.
Eh, bullshit. AIC is sludgy, too much low end. There have to be what, a dozen Cantrell threads for every hundred thousand Slash threads on gear forums? There is a reason.

I’ve never heard any guitarist say Cantrell has bad tone… in fact it is often mentioned in top tones lists. So nah

Wtf is a ‘top tones list’?
Probably the same forum you got your “12 Cantrell threads to every thousand slash threads” poll/information. You do realize you are calling out the guy for basically saying the exact same thing as you did…. Right?

Threads on Internet forums are real things. I don’t know what a ‘top tones list‘ is.

I said guitar tracks played alone sounded thin and anemic. You jumped in and aggressively claimed that was nothing but an internet myth. I posted an example. You confirmed it sounded thin and anemic but dismissed it and again proclaimed anemic isolated guitar tracks to be the, “dumbest thing you’ve ever heard”

This is a stupid discussion—I was reacting to your hyperbolic response, I don’t really care if you agree or not but I am betting you have indeed heard “dumber” things.

I said you are small minded in your thinking of why a tone is thin and anemic, mostly because it never crossed your mind that that was the producer or mixer is going for. I gave you Reasons as to why you perceive isolated tracks as thin and anemic, the biggest being it is a mono track with no stereo image. I gave countless examples of non thin anemic isolated guitar tones. I explained why it’s a wrong ideology to think a guitar can’t be huge in a mix as well as other instruments at the same time. I explained my opinions come from mostly modern metal productions of the last 30 years, not cock rock of the 80s. It’s still the dumbest guitar myth I’ve ever heard.

People in forums listing their favorite tones. Cantrell/AiC records are mentioned in tone discussions often and I can’t think of one time it has been negative until your steaming take

Now c’mon bro. Let’s not bash the good stuff. That’s my genre right there.
Not knockin it brotha, just using that term to describe the 80s hair metal scene, not bashin I promise!

I don’t hang here much—you must be the ‘I’m never wrong guy’ here. I always thought an isolated guitar track wasn’t doubled. Y’know, since it is an isolated guitar track and all. But you do you, I’m just small minded lol.

What a weird conversation to have.

I guess only in the gear world

No, I’m the “ let me explain the best that I can and share knowledge like everyone else here does” guy. But go ahead and spin “isolated guitar track” all you want. You know why the slash example is an isolated guitar track? Because it was a mono track right up the middle, like I said. You know why the examples I showed above are also isolated guitar tracks? Because they are, and there’s no other instruments playing, and they are panned hard left and right. Notice how you don’t hear the guitars out of only one side? Because it’s a stereo isolated guitar track. You know why it’s a stereo isolated guitar track? Because that’s how the guitars were recorded. You know why slash’s isn’t? Because it wasn’t recorded that way. Why is that so hard to understand? I dunno man, you’ve got all the answers. Why don’t you record welcome to the jungle yourself? Play it single tracked up the middle, then double track it, and Pan it hard left and right, and see the difference for yourself and how much different it sounds? Buttttt I’m sure you won’t do that.

@VESmedic I don't think @tallcoolone understands that winning an argument with semantics, doesn't help any of us passersby understand recording guitars better.
