Peep my rack yo! It’s simple, but I dig it…

Very nice, I love my X99 and 2150 together and this set-up should be very similar
Yeah my understanding is that this particular gen 2/90/2 with the center power and standby switches is very close in build and sound to the 2150’s… but that may just be interwebz water cooler gossip. I like to tell myself it’s true though.

Why would you need Myasnikov anything with a rack like that? That's like preferring a B cup over a set of Double banger DD's.
lol! Man the CAE has always been another one of those “gotta have it” preamps for me. I’d love the real one but they don’t seem to pop up a ton and even less so when I actually have the dough. The Myasnikov stuff is supposed to be pretty spot on.

The CAE is cool too. If we´re talking the lead channels the non-SE lead channel is a great (very) modded Marshall-type, and the SE version is a bit gainier and scoopier and shines with V30s. I´m not a huge fan of either version thru the 2150, though, they have a lot of bass and treble and the 2150 leans into the same sort of hyped sound. No surprise there, really, as it was designed with a 1959 power section. But I´m more of a rock guy, and guys like Mustaine and Hammett didn´t seem to mind that particular pairing one bit.

I’ve got a KSR PA-100R power amp inbound with 6L6’s that may pair well…

Gotta disagree to some degree. The new preamp has more gain and hair than those original preamps. The new preamp and ksr poweramp is going to impress.

Sure, I haven't played these new ones.

The X88 has been sitting in my closet in the box for like 3 months so finally got it open and hooked up. Fuggin’ love it!
I had picked up this Soldano preamp and the Fryette 2502 he was selling.

The 2502 sounds killer with the X88 but I was hoping to get the 2902 since it has that lower end thunp!!

Update on both. I've been looking at these for a while. That poweramp looks amazing. Just noticed it is mono?!!

Yeah mono.

My story with KSR and that power amp isn’t a great one. Out of spite I still haven’t even fired it up and it’s the last time I’ll ever do any tulips of business with Kyle/KSR.

A few others on the forum here have had shit show experiences around being early adopters of the power amp as well. Some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced and I’m not alone.

That's a shame on the KSR. I almost got one too. Soldano needs to start putting out SM100Rs or put out a rack SLO with a preamp in and MIDI input vs built-in pre select.
