I slapped all of my phaser pedals on one board. I was going to have some fun.

I just got some bad news. Science has to wait. Hopefully this will cheer me up later.

What do you think it will sound like with all of them on at once?

If you had a way to run them all parallel I bet that would be awesome too

DOUG STOP ACTIN' CRAZY YOU COULD GET KILLED!

HE'S JAMMIN TO THE TUNES CUZ HE'S ZOOMIN!!

The Whetstone has yet to be dethroned. Blackout Effectors won with that one, even though it's huge and has too many features. It gets right where you want it, wherever the fuck that is.

The Don Juan Cornelius is really close. For me, the symmetry of the sweep on the Whetstone gave it the edge, where the DJC is a little more asymmetrical. The Whetstone has a switch for that if you want it, even if I don't.

The EHX Bad Stone really wowed me. I didn't realize I liked it that much until you hear it back to back. The attack knob is perfect on that, and the sweet spot really made it stand out. The other two were more luscious.

The MXR Deep Phase sounded great, but was easy to overdo the feedback. The Mode II switch brought a nice extra layer, which makes it unique. It's good, but it's not subtle.

The Gold Small Stone was nice. It was a little too subtle compared to everything else. With the color switch engaged, it got a little too washed out for my liking.

The MXR Phase 90 and the Whirlwind Orange Box are the same pedal, but miles apart. It would be more fair to compare the Orange Box to a Script Phase 90, but I don't have one (You gotta piss with the cock you got!). The Whirlwind was cleaner and more luscious. The Phase 90 has the least amount of headroom.

Boosted, the Phase 90 distorts. I love that. It's a neat trick. I refuse to call it bad. When I smacked the front of the rest of them, I got varied results. The Bad Stone barked a bit. The rest stayed mostly clean, just louder.

All in all, they each have a place, with the value of the Small Stone being that it's gold. I think I need more though. What do I get next?

What are you looking to get out of the phaser? You going for subtile or a full wash?

Also, what did it do with all of them on?

Now I'm just going to have to build my version of the Whetstone ..... and call it Bezo's Stones

Somewhere in between. That's why I didn't care much for the Small Stone. I wanted the switch set half way in between.

Also, what did it do with all of them on?
It got really quiet, and then the walls shook and I suddenly had to poop.

Seriously, make a Whetstone where half of the switches are just set. There shouldn't be more switches than knobs. Granted, it does everything. I get that. I just don't want my phaser to be a ring modulator or vibrato at the same time. Fix the rotory knob to normal, ditch the vibrato switch, and keep it on all pass. Then it would basically be your DJC with switches for stages, sweep width, and symmetry.

Please don't turn all of those on at the same time. I feel it could screw with the space time continuum
Hopefully, this is just a phase you're going through.

Sorry..........
I should have put a compressor or two at the end of the chain to protect the world from all that phase. The more phasers you run in series, the closer you get to recreating the voice of God. Luckily enough, I'm a few phasers shy of divinity, but I did find the brown note.

And as quickly as it was built, the Board of Ultimate Phase is dissolved. Something like that is too dangerous to just have laying around.

That's one sweet looking unit. I'm more of a chorus/flanger guy myself but I never get to use anything intense sounding in the blues realm, just a light dusting.
I could use a light dusting ..... it's been years ...

My level of "subtle" is not far from half way through the controls. You can set it anywhere to a slight swoosh to straight syrup. It does vibrato and ring modulator settings too. It's pretty sweet.

The Blackout Effectors Whetstone is to phaser what the Zvex Fuzz Factory is to fuzz. There is no sound you can't get out of it, but you'll have to fuck with all the settings for days to get it there. Oh, and lord help you if you bump a knob (or a switch).
