Played an original at an open mic, now I have a gig in June

I performed an original at a really small open mic a couple of weekends ago. Just me and an acoustic guitar on stage was insanely nerve-racking, but I got through it with minimal mistakes and some dignity (my pants are olive?).

One of the other performers then asked me to fill a 30 minute time slot opening for his band at a bar in June, playing original music. That's a dream come true, so wish me fucking luck.

(I know this isn't heavy gain amp talk, but I do a lot of guitar work outside of my punk/metal band)

Nice!! Hey doesn't have to be just heavy all the time. I'm in a punk band and we are trying to get out and play acoustic gigs of our songs.

Bout time you get those fingers to work. Congrats on the gig!

LOL, thanks. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that this is like...my first real gig lol. I have performed single songs on stages before (open mics and high school shows) and I've performed as part of ensembles (choir, classical guitar), but I've never performed more than one of my songs on a stage before and I'm insanely nervous, but also super flattered that the guy even asked me.
I'm not set up for this at all. I don't have socials for my music. I don’t have anything really recorded decently. I don't have anything released. I don't have merch. I know that nobody's gonna be beating down my door to book me for more gigs immediately, but maybe I should be a little bit more prepared.

I primarily wrote on an acoustic guitar for about 15 years and that ranged from everything like what's in the OP to metalcore songs. So acoustic versions of punk songs is right up my alley. Have fun!

What's embarrassing about your first real gig? Solo/duo stuff has a way of snowballing if you do good work so get ready to quit your day job! I'm excited for you bro. Congrats. Let's get that social media started and then you knock it out the park and score a residency heh heh. Ain't no money like guitar money bro.

I think it's been a dream of mine to perform my own music for people for as long as I've been writing music, but I never put myself out there enough. I'm 402 years old and it just feels funny to have waited so long to start the ball rolling. We'll see about the day job lol.
Thanks for the words of encouragement!

Good luck bro. When you hit the big time don't forget about your PRS loving forum friend cause I could use a nice core model when you get that endorsement!

Grats bro, and I must say... you look pretty damn young for your age.

damn, if i was 402 years old and related to the McCloud's, i would totally rock olive pants just like you !

Seriously though, that was cool, great job on a first performance and you'll just keep getting better from there
p.s. i have multiple pairs of akhq green pants - (my wife likes them, and i definitely like my wife) !

wow incredible work. you made all that movement look easy.
reminded me of something like James Taylor would have done back in the day
