Plexi - Y Cable or Straight in?

Who prefers one or the other? Still testing this. I’ve always gone back and forth on whether I prefer the channels jumped or not. I do feel like as the gain goes up, it matters less and less cause listening back to this I don’t hear a ton of difference. More focus on the upper end of things straight in, maybe a little heftier with the blend?

more power!

guitar -> buffer with two outputs -> input 1

I've never liked "jumpering" channels on old 4 input Marshall; they usually have already plenty enough bass when using the "main" brillant channel if pushed whatever the model, and the classic jumper cable method makes you lose a little gain.
A good "Y split" in front should be better on the gain-loss aspect, but I still prefer straight in; and I usually like to slightly bring up the 2nd un-used channel, slightly "fills-up" the sound even if not used.

Ok now that’s interesting. What burger do you like?

Mustard, ketchup, pickles, tomato, onions. Hold the mayo. :D

As for buffers, to be honest anything will work as long as there's any buffer to stop the signal from the pickups from getting quieter from having to split between channels.

Personally I have an RJM effect gizmo with a built-in buffer and sometimes I'll run a Y-cable out of the buffer out. I'm getting a Fryette valvulator mini in the mail sometime soon as well so I'll report back after I get a chance to check that thing out too.

Smash burger style or the big ol’ patty style though?

Don’t see people mention that very often but the second channel absolutely has an effect even when not used

I ended up just preferring into just one treble input. It was fun to use a splitter and have two different OD pedals, one for a treble input and one for a normal input.

Shit that’s genius. Talk about a rabbit hole though. I’m trying this

For lower gain atuff, IE volumes under 7, I like jumpered or Y, but bringing the fucking fury, high input only everything dimed like EVH.

If it isn't warm and red in the center, it isn't worth ordering. When I was a little kid a grey/brown half a frozen hockey puck was great because clowns, playground, free toys, and shit. Once I grew up ftn.

Not a Plexi, but on my Custom 100 it's guitar > Treble Booster > Normal > Bright. It gives me gorgeous cleans to epic crunch all with my pick up choice and volume knob.

Yep I do the same thing. For edge of breakup or cleans, I'll go either jumpered or buffered guitar sending two cables, starting with the bass channel for body, then tuning on the bright switch and blending in channel 1 for some articulation and maybe crunch if the sound calls for it.

But yeah for full on high gain stuff, I usually just stick with channel 1 high input.

I was always a juicy lucy guy myself. All the bacon you can fit....

I used to cross channel as a matter of routine with a plexi/strat combo. It was nearly unusable in that arrangement without it.
