Political arguing

I've contemplated on the OP for a couple days....

I think regardless of political party every president (and congressman for that matter) for the most part have done what they thought best for the USA as a whole; even thought the paths taken were different. That's even counting if they were kind of a crappy president/congressman. Good intentions don't always pan out in practice. And I get that there's always going to be some kind of funny business behind the scenes. Kind of basic, but I saw it as... Neocons looked at what was best for the US on a global scale even though it lead to numerous wars. Classic democrats looked at what was best for the common man even though it lead to corrupt unions.

That all changed with the Obama era. I really felt this was the first time we had a president/party that gave zero shits about the American people. I think this was the first sign of government fully abandoning the American people. And this came from one side of the isle. At this point we still had neocons controlling the Republican party, but the start of a grass roots movement. Either way they were still in favor of doing what was best for the US. On the Democratic side I saw the beginning of a complete abandonment of the American people in favor of political power by any means necessary.

Moving into the current era Trump was a wildcard, but I thought still wanted what's best for the US. Honestly I thought (and still think) he's the best middle ground between classic Democrat and traditional Republican viewpoints. He was a Democrat up to the point he ran for president in 2016 and adopted some Republican ideals. Even though some of his policies didn't pan out and I'm still skeptical of some of the current ones I do believe he wants what's best for the American people (in both terms). Contrast that with Obama and Biden... Obama acted like the US was pure evil and worked to destroy it; or at best didn't care what happened as long as he benefitted. Biden was barely competent to even know what was going on and if he did went along with globalist policies that would bring the US down. Either way they both were active in bringing America down.

That's just the background of where I'm coming from to address the OP. I don't see political arguments as my team vs your team as paralleled in the OP as sports teams. I see it as a fringe minority with a loud voice (along with a small minority of "influential" democrats who pander to the squeaky wheel and others with no backbone) who want nothing more than to crumble America or at best watch the destruction from the sidelines vs. the rest of America who want what's best for the country regardless of party of conflicting ideas. (Sorry for that run on sentence). So not so much of team vs team, but the sport vs new management upending core values.

I think most typical Democrats are on the same lines as say Kevin Fetterman. He may have different ideas for the path, but ultimately truly want what's best for America. But the vocal idiots are loud enough to shout them down. Those in opposition to this who are loud enough to push back; regardless of party, for whatever reason get labeled by the vocal minority as "right wing" thus advancing the whole my party vs your party rhetoric. Tim Pool is a perfect example. Can you honestly evaluate his ideals and say he's truly right wing? No, he's slightly left of center, but gets labeled by the vocal minority as right wing extremist. Hell Bill Maher is not too far off from being in the same area as Tim Pool ever since he's been slowly coming around to seeing the idiocy or the extreme left.

On the [current] republican side I see changes, but not much in the way of extremism. There's still the Neocons who may not be the best, but still at least look at what's best for America. The other part is in the grass roots movements we've seen and what Trump has brought in; AKA good ideas from the other side and focus on the people. The point here being is it's a multitude of ideas with a common goal; doing what's best for the country. So the contention becomes the path, not the destination.

To sum up all these ramblings, I really don't see political arguing being paralleled to rooting for sports teams. Even though both sides want to "win" that would imply some level of sportsmanship which is the ultimate goal. I see it as a loud fringe minority against the rest of America with one piece throwing sportsmanship out the window. Or in other terms, that same minority are hell bent on destroying everything because they themselves are miserable; AKA misery loves company, but to the extreme. The rest of us normal people regardless of political party just want what's best. Even if the paths diverge they're still pretty parallel and converge at the same destination. The fringe just want to take the path that leads off a cliff. This is the root of current political arguing the 25% who want to destroy vs the 75% (regardless of party) who just want America to succeed.
