I don't know if you're some douche that migrated over from TGP or what, but I've been around here for years. I think many will disagree with you about my integrity. Go back to trolling over at TGP. You certainly fit the mold.

I don’t know. Gotta say if a store makes out to me they’re not charging sales tax, I feel it’s their responsibility to figure it out, not mine. No one is filing forms and sending money to the State after buying an amp or guitar because the store said no sales tax. Certainly the State isn’t going to come looking for it, especially if a store isn’t even reporting it.
I still believe the store is collecting sales tax out of the purchase and just doing it so that it doesn’t show on a receipt. Certainly would suck for them on a refund/return.
Maybe somebody here actually knows what goes down in a store when they offer no sales tax?

That is the point, it is the buyers responsibility, regardless of how they feel about it.

Taken to a more extreme, I have worked with companies to resolve their use tax issues, some of whom purposely purchased from out of state vendors to avoid the tax due. They all get caught eventually, then owe the taxes, interest and penalties. I did one not long ago whet the “$100,000 in savings” cost them over $500,000. They had the option to pay or go to jail and have assets liquidated to pay it.

I promise, if you ever divorced, she’s squealing on you, that’s how many are caught.

But I thought that was negated several years ago when they made it where you’re paying your States sale tax, no matter the source. Was that only on certain goods?

I had my ESP at rock bottom prices, probably $400-$500 less then anywhere else for the same model, plus mine was a NAMM model.

After several months I brought it to GC and they gave me $100 more then my lowest price.

And yes, shipping is a nightmare these days.

They work on the law of 1/3. You will get 33% of your instruments current worth (used) unless it is a very desirable piece. At that point, you must negotiate for more.

Where is that from? They’ll give you at least half of what they can sell it for (it’s used worth), often 60% if in good shape and desirable. Still not as good as a private sale or consignment but certainly more than 33%.
