I got a Mexican Charvel San Dimas recently and freaking love it!!! I have been playing it more than my USA DeMartini Charvel that costs thousands more.

It was originally owned by the guitarist in the band Miss May I and he had the tuners changed out with Hipshot tuners and swapped out the bridge. It stays in tune great and sounds killer. Of course it plays awesome because it has that nice, smooth, Charvel neck.

I can't wait until the trem stop gets here and I set up the guitar. Then I will put it through its paces.

I love the MIJ Charvels. Nice 1/4 sawn necks on par with USA models. I missed out on one last week for $600.

Damn $600 is a sweet price for one.

This one has 'it' to it. I am slow to warm up to new guitars. Lol. I am sure I will be playing the hell out if her next week. Today I am just getting used to seeing it. Makes no sense I know lol.

Nice score, now you have that 80`s shred covered for sure
Splawn Nitro and ofr Charvel superstrat :)

Cool score.

Regarding the trem stop, why not just get a piece of rock add maple (or oak) and sand it down to fit in the trem cavity? You can use like a drop or two of crazy glue to hold it in place. It should sound better as well since it will have a larger surface to couple with the body.

I am used to trem stoppers on a few guitars, the brass fitting transfers pretty good. I went from using neatly fit chunks of hard wood to them stops actually. I do understand your logic, but I enjoy them where they are at with the trem stop.

Nice! Now you're talkin. Those MiJ Charvels are nearly identical to the USAs; I still give a slight nod to the USAs I've owned as some can be magical playing/sounding. All I used to do to the MiJ versions is take some 0000 steel wool to the back of the neck, to get rid of that yellow tinted coating they used. If you compare your USA to the Jap you'll see the tint. Some prefer the fretwork on the Jap version to the USA.

I absolutely love it. Still in the acquaintce phase with it. There is no wear anywhere on this guitar, nor the MIM one on this thread (both came from the same guy) I think he must just look at them.

It's a killer guitar. Fretwork is also pretty damn good on the MIJ. I also think that the USA slightly edges it out. But not by much. And that could just be that I am more used to my USA. I played it for a bit last night. She has a wicked growl to her. Nice and tight, excellent cut in the upper mids/ lower highs.

I won't be changing anything other than the knob. I already planned on deglossing the back a tiny bit. #0000 as always. She needs to be set up just a tiny tweak here or there for my personal specs. The fact that it already has a trem stop saves me $15 too! And 15 minutes. My trems topper for the gold one will be here in a few days. Then I will set that one up.

Shit I made out well in both deals. I may see if he has others in a few weeks. Lol.

Badass!! I wouldn't even change that green knob man, I dig it!

Dude, you were able to get that DK22 SSS strait trade for the red 80’s Mode 1?
If so, you totally got the better deal. I have that gold DK22 and love it. I bought new for $950 (that was discounted from $1099).

Straight up for the red model 1.

Thw next day the with the same guy got the MIJ San Dimas for the model 3a.

I have another model one. I will see what he has in a few days.

I don't get it either, neither the MIM nor the MIJ I got from the guy showed ANY wear. Literally NO fret wear, no DINGS, NOTHING.

The model 3a was a bit beat up too on top of that. I didn't even give him the case.

Congratulations, that’s pretty cool. The other dude must have liked the new Charvels and someone got him on a historical is better kick like “if you think that new one is good, you should try the ones from the 80s”

That gold model is solid, I’ve been testing single coils in it like crazy. Never been must of a single coil guy, so it’s been fun.

I have no idea what was running through the other guys mind. Lol. I can't wait to lay into the gold one, but as I keep saying when I get the tremstop in and set it up with 11's I will really get to know her.

It is a lot of fun with the SC's though. Did yours have the tuning issue that others had?

I don’t think so, mine stays in tune, I never noticed any tuning issues anyway.

Not sure if they addresses the tuning issue, but google “Charvel dk24 2pt tuning issues” you’ll see lots of reading.
