Man, I was never so excited to see a concert than the Operation Mindcrime tour. I was so excited, that I drank waaaaaay too much before the concert and never even made it in. I was woken up by a cop asking me if I was allright with my head hanging out my buddies door of his truck.

Got my first and only under age drinking ticket that night. Was in bed by 9.

Dood... you committed "Operation Dive Crime"!


Alas -- I never got to see them on that tour. My bro saw them out in Portland on that one and said that it was awesome. I'll just have to make-do with the "Live Crime" DVD filmed in Madison, WI. Highlights for me are "Suite Sister Mary", "The Mission", "Eyes of a Stranger", and "I Don't Believe In Love". The Mindcrime album was my favorite for so many years.

My favorite live DVD of all time. Up there with Opeth, Metallica live in Seatte '89, and Exit Stage Left by Rush.

Oh man... now you're talkin! ESL was always my "desert island" album. I used to listen to it EVERY night as I went to bed back in the 80s. I'd usually fall asleep during the transition from "The Trees" to "Xanadu". One thing that always bummed me out about that live VHS/DVD was that they didn't play "The Camera Eye" on there. Wish they would have. That's the reason that I traveled 500 miles last summer to see Rush at Red Rocks -- they played Moving Pictures in its entirety.

Although the version of "Xanadu" on Exit, Stage Left is FANTASTIC. One of my favorite songs of all time.

Found these, They rented the Amarillo Civic Center for a week to get the production for the tour down, a few people got invited to watch the rehearsals, and I got to be one of them... anyways here are the pics a friend took, I FINALLY got ahold of them.

Hey — random question from a longtime Queensrÿche fan. I cant believe I found this! I was one of the lucky ones at the 1991 Amarillo/Building Empires rehearsal and got to hang around for a few days. I have a few photos from the event and was excited to see these posted here but it looks like the images are gone. Any chance you still have the originals or know where they ended up?

I was 17 and got to see them do a full dress rehearsal of Operation Mindcrime before they started the big tour where they first played Mindcrime in its entirety! Fast forward and my 17 year old daughter is going to see Geoff Tate this weekend perform Operation Mindcrime in its entirety for the last time. Generational Bliss! He is doing a meet and greet and I was gonna find the photo of him and me with his crazy Green bathrobe on. I cant find that one but I found a few others including me jumping on stage and getting a pic with me on Scotts drumset. Lifetime Memories. Any way I would be happy to share my photos but if you have access to these I would LOVE to see them!!!

Really appreciate it either way.

I dont know how this stuff works so here it goes...

I didn't deserve this!!!
Still looking for all of mine, but here is one of my favorites I found.

I learned drums playing to Robert Sweet - Neil Peart - Scott Rockenfield - Jerry Gaskil - Ringo - Tabla - Phil with endless others in between. I even play drums like Tate sings sometimes in a way (or at least that's what I tell myself)

But during that week in Amarillo Texas decades ago, there was a vibe to that time that can't be reproduced. I was and still can feel absolutely floored and in a constant dream world bliss. Reborn in a way!!!

Now I try to get by and continue to struggle to play guitar for myself (30 years and counting) and as a drummer it's been a struggle. But luckily, I got inspiration on my side. Oh, and just for the record Degarmo is KING!

My daughter is so excited to see Operation: Mindcrime live this weekend without knowing anything about it.

I love QR and Tate to the core, but have to admit.... If pressed.. I can't wait to see the final show, but I am more excited to see her reaction to the show.

Thanks Again! We got to chat with him a bit yesterday before the show, and he had a pretty funny story to tell about that night in Texas and what he was wearing and why. 67 years old and still rocking hard core! I'm 15-ish years younger and can barely carry more than 2 Amazon packages up the stairs without having to take a de-sweat, present moment, body ache, zen fake, spontaneous nap break just to get on with the rest of my day.
