Mine sounded horrible as well. I learned a valuable lesson when I had mine modded and it is that you can't polish a turd. The amp I sent him was a reissue, and not the best one I'm told. He did his best but it just didn't have that magic.

My amp was a '79 Super Bass with BE/HBE, SAT, FAT,C45. It was WAY better than my Splawn, not as good as my Camerons. My amp had NOS Sylvania 6CA7s in it too, as well as NOS preamp tubes...
