Don't really want another controller . I Have enough under my feet now . Also the FX8 can do it, if I could figure it out
Then you've got me confused.

I was replying to your (this) statement: ". . . I was wondering what midi controller you guys would recommend for the VH4 or if there is a foot switch I could get to work it.

The Fractal Audio Systems FX8 Mark II is more than a MIDI controller, it's also a DSP multi-effects pedal board, more than what you initially mentioned. And yes, this pedal board will require a steep learning curve. I had a AXE-FX II a few years ago thinking that it would outshine my TCE G-Force but realized it was futile - for me. The AXE-FX II is another great DSP multi-effects unit for folks that don't have a traditional all tube guitar rig because it will logically "mimic" using various virtualization algorithms many traditional amp and cab simulations, however this is useless for me. I was a fun experience.

sorry, yes that was the initial post. I guess I should have started a new thread with this post that is about 1/2 way down

Got my amp and spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to change channels via midi from the FX8 .

Looking at the diezel manual it looks like it should be simple . I think my problem is I dont know how to set the FX8 up . I have no clue what midi channel to use or what command to tell it to send .

Any help would be appreciated

oh and now I know it has to be PC commands.

The third party chip does CC message changes also... for $50 it’s a steal.

Curious on your thoughts on VH2 vs VH4. Please post when you get some time!

The VH2 is more open, less compressed. It definitely has Channel 3 of the VH4 and I think the clean on the VH2 is better. My choice of the 2 would be the VH4. It has something that the VH2 just doesn't have. The depth seems to hit harder and with el34's in it the vh4 seems more aggressive.

As for which channels on the VH4 I like 3 and 4 the best. From what I read most people prefer 3 but so far I'm staying on 4 most of the time. Of course, I have the gain dialed back. Channel 2 is really good for when you don't need a beast on a leash and channel 1 is great also but not as clean as the vh2.

Overall you can't go wrong with either one. If your wanting a VH4 but just don't have the cash then pick up a VH2 you won't be disappointed.

I sold my VH2 to the other guitar player in the band I'm in. Can't wait to hear the two amps together.

I'm thinking of upgrading from my VH2 to a VH4 and I was wondering what midi controller you guys would recommend for the VH4 or if there is a foot switch I could get to work it.
Also I see there are 4 effects loops(one for each channel ) is there also a series loop that works in all 4 channels ?
Thanks

Sorry for digging that out again, but despite the fact you like the sound of the VH4 over the VH2, how much did it bother you that you cant switch the FX Loop via pedal?

It doesn't bother me at all because I switch channels using my fractal FX8
