the best 1u ive ever heard for vox is egnater module hands down end of story
it punched several "vintage" ac30s i've played and heard and mixed live sound with right in the face, and every reissue model i've heard from the 90's on up chews goat pellets.
carl martin AC tone is nice in a pedal and kinda a sleeper is the pigtronix class A boost---that thing has some of the spitty dusty chime in it.
sometimes it seems like vox/korg don't even have a clear idea of what the classic ac30 sound that made it famous really is anymore. for me it has to be a tele or maybe a ricky twanging on the front end and old bulldogs and old glass. new tubes sound too congested in an already mid heavy amp by nature most of the time.
same seems true with marshall losing what a plexi is supposed to sound like although it thought they did a great job with the jtm45 reissue last NAMM.
now that landau is putting out a sig fender combo maybe we will get some blackface mojo back into one of their new amps...
