Recommend me a "Vintage" or "Jangly" amp and some speakers.

You know who has an amazing clean tone is a Surreal Amp from Jerry Dyer. I met him about a year ago to try out some of his amps and I found his clean tone to be one of the best I have heard. I remember he had a real cool take to his amps but what I remember most is the cleans were outstanding! He is a real nice guy too. He is on the forum a lot, you should check him out.

I have the Vox Hand Wired ac15, a head only and a combo at the studio both are perfect for that. Get yourself a Tele and Rick and you can jangle all the way...

Yellow Jackets and one of your amps {might} get you there.

Vox, Victoria, Hayseed, Matchless, BadCat , Nolatone, Morgan Amplification all make great amps in that flavor.

A JMP,Bassman, Twin and Deluxe style amps.... being different flavors are other amps you may want around for what you do, beyond the jangle thing. You have plenty of high-gain stuff, some of the low/medium gain stuff is at lest as important. More if you ask me. Most of the guitar stuff you hear is not high-gain.

If you want to check out amps that cover a lot of vintage ground I recommend THD, as that is what I use for all my low and medium gain needs.

Bro get the ac30, every studio should have one anyways and it is what you are looking for.

Is this the combo you have? Thanks a lot for the recommendations. Do you think this amp is better than the AC30?

Cheers,

-Greg

the 15 will have the EL84's

Scotto,

I don't know how the newer ones are made/sound compared to the older ones, and I don't want to buy a dud. I also am buying new, since God forbid I have an issue, I can get it fixed for free.

Hang around the TGP sales forum, those guys are unloading hw ac30s with blues all the time for 30-40% off in never gigged condition. I had one in the datacenter where I work dimed and it was awesome.

Vox will get you there...Matchless or Dr. Z will get you there and beyond.

Yup. I really like AC15s the best. Great amps.

James, thank you very much for your opinion. It's definitely one that's worth trusting

An old stock Marshall can jangle pretty well I reckon. Good enough for me anyway.

i may have missed it in the post, or something, but i noticed you said insert speakers here by the evh 5153 cab. does that mean you are going to be selling the speakers out of it ?? or did you already get rid of them ?? let me know if you decide to sell em.

oh yeah sorry for the off topic post

Hey,

I sold them a long time ago and bought 8 ohm versions of the same speakers to put in my Stone Age 412B. I'm thinking of some Neo 12 speakers by Weber to shoot for a similar tone to what Bendeth has done.

Thanks

I checked some demos and it looks like just what the doctor ordered. Real jangly and raunchy too. I have a nice treble booster to smack the front end of that sucker with as well.

I'm not sure if it has a speaker extension (James, perhaps you can chime in), but if not, it's literally a ten dollar fix. All I need is to get a output and input jack and wire them to the respective sides of the cabling. I bet you this thing would roar through my Greenbacks.

Good choice Greg. I'm sure you'll dig it. I've been GASing for one for a long time now. Wha'd you pay for it?

Musician's Friend is selling the last stock for $999.00. It was a steal for all that tone, I'll tell you that

Damn, nice! I wish I had the cash for that right now. I've always wanted an AC15. Congrats Greg! Have fun!

Hey, you do re-amping don't you? I had an idea earlier tonight that you might be able to help me with if you're up for it..
