Ok guys so here it is and I'm beat. Can't begin to understand how Mr. Lugo did it hehe.

This time around I have 11 clips so I can't do a poll. What we will do is just post in bold your fav and least fav.

So here's the amps

Splawn Nitro El34
Mesa Mark IV
Budda SD80
Mako Makoplex
Peters Dual Gryphon
Diezel Herb Chn2
Diezel Herb Chn3
Diezel Einy
Peavey Sig 5150
Krank Rev1+
Soldano SLO

Details: ESP custom w/Emg81 > Amp > 2x12 recto(v30) > 57 > Apogee ad16x > Pro Tools HD NO EQ NO REAMPING NO BOOSTS

I tried to capture a little bit of everything in the clip. Some held out chords, tight riff, and soloing. NO POST EQ OR COMP just a hair of delay on the solo (set same on all)

I didn't tweak amps for hours on end but gave them all the same amount of time and just got a good tone out of them. Also--Forgive some of the performances as this was just for fun and not no million dollar album.

I will post results sometime next year haha

Cheers

I prefer recording 2 the most, then 7 or 4 next depending on what I might prefer in a mix.

I don't really dislike any of them.

EMGs...grrr...you still had to have clipping before the amp, didn't you... :)

(edit) This is without reamping, and you're making excuses for "bad playing"? I just put a few tracks side-by-side and listened to them, and they're nearly dead on. You're being too hard on yourself.

I'm stoked to hear these. I'll be checking them out as soon as I get home from work :D

I'm blushing James :D hehe. Seriously tho, there was a click and I have been around the block, but I just feel like my soloing can be better.

Great work. I usually enjoy your amp shootouts, though I haven't had the chance to listen to either of your most recent threads yet. Tomorrow night I will be home and I will give them both a listen.

They all sound good, the lead tone on #1 is best to me
Your playing is solid, very nice!

This will take some time,, I will check'em out and get back to ya. Thanks for doing this!!

I'll start off by saying this was a bit tougher for me due to the amount of amps involved

Gimme a day man, I haven't had a chance to plug in - I am actually super intrigued about this test... And again, huge props for the time and efforts taken.

Tomorrow I'll be plugged in - just SLAMMED with work, family visits and all that other holiday hub hub!!

V.

I actually really didn't like 7. I hate when you can hear string noise, and it seemed to show up everywhere. 9, 8 and 5 all sounded fantastic to me; nice and open, chunky, and middy. 10 and 11 were cool. 6 sounded undefined. 4, 2, 1 & 3 I didn't like too much; lots of high end fizz and not as much girth as I'd go for.

I've only played on two out of the eleven amps in this shoot out, so it's a real blind test for me

Number 1 for me was the standout on the Legato line, really nice definition in the notes. Also liked #9 for some girth.

On my laptop speakers I liked 6, 11 & 2 the best. Didn't like 5. Will add new "likes" when I hear in the studio.

On these tiny speakers, most of the clips sound VERY similar... exactly similar. IMO mic position and speaker/cab make up a larger difference than say switching between 2 hot rodded amps.

Still... LOVE amp shootouts. Thanks for posting.

I will say there's more distinction on the little chug part then the held out chords. I should have started with that instead so right when you listen to the clips you hear more of a difference.
