December 8th, the same day John Lennon was shot. Dimebag to me was the last rock/metal/wutever guitarist to come up with a sound and style that was unique and nearly impossible to replicate. IMO, he's easily up there with RR, Jimmy, EVH (for you pop guys out there ;) ), Muddy Waters, SRV, Robert Johnson, and the like. He took bits and pieces of the greatest techniques from different genres, put a unique spin on them, added a super slickery feel to them while remaining as aggressive as a serial killer in action. All the while doing it will the feel, honesty, and passion of even the best blues players, but retaining the power and brewtalness that even James Hetfield or Kerry King would be hard pressed to match. It's almost as if every great metal musician that has passed had their souls and spirits combined, and they came back as DBD. Even with all of the attention he got as a player he still remained a "regular dude" that was cool, and friendly as all get out. It was one of the saddest days in my life when I saw the newspaper article come out after hearing about it on Howard Stern on the way to work. I'm so glad I got to see him in his prime so many times, and equally as happy to have met him if even for just a moment. The smile and thumbs up he gave me when I showed him a pic of my 1980 Deam ML will be etched into my soul forever.

And of course.........

He came to rock, and he rocked like no other!

Getcha pull. Remembering my favorite guitarist today. I'll bust out Mouth For War, and the day will be spent with Pantera in the background

RIP brother. You're missed.

Fuck yeah man, i`m in on this thought with you.

I met him once back in 1991, digital cameras didn`t exist or cell phones so i didn`t get a chance to take a pic but the memory still exists in my head and is etched forever. I did manage to get my guitar signed, a Dean baby V i just had. Got into Deans cause of him too. I do have him with me every day, he does not say much but he`s fucking there:

Damn i can`t find a close up pic of my Dean but here`s one anyway, it`s on the wall and stayin`there forever:

Lastly, this was one of the coolest pics i`ve seen back then, my two heroes at the same time having a blast!!!

RIP

I used to have one of those cutouts! Was a big Dime fan back in high school... The Dean From Hell was the first expensive guitar I had ever bought!

From the first show I ever played when I was in a death metal band in high school

Alright dudes, I do this when I can.

I have been blessed enough to have spent time at dimebags house, with his friends and family etc.

I like to give back to those who love dime same as he would.

Pm me your home addresses. I am going to send you some dimebag guitar pics.

Please no one else, it is a limited supply and I do this pretty much each year. Next year!

Oh and be patient! I'm a pot smoking musician wtf were you expecting lmao!

I remember being utterly shocked that Dime of all people would be murdered in such a terrible way. RIP.

In case you haven't seen it, pickup the DVD. Total opposite of the too-serious metallica 'year and a half' dvd; Pantera was having a blast and they wanted you to know it.

"Bottle of Jack, Bottle of Cuervo, Bottle of Jäger. Still going."

I was on my way to that show. Turned around when the wife at the time called to say that one or our kids was sick.

I am glad that I didn't witness that.

I saw the Vulgar Video when I was about 22 iirc, (the 90's for me had a lot of Wild Turkey and Jim Beam goin' on lol!), and I've never been the same since. I thought, man these are just regular rowdy dude like my friends and I were on crazy nights.

"Excuse me, I have a pink beard"

Doesn't that video show them on tour with Skid Row and stuff? If I remember correctly that DVD blow my fucking mind. Imagine a kid, about 15 or 16, die hard Pantera, Megadeth, Slayer, Death fan, coming into the scene with all the old school prejudices of 80's glam and what's this? Pantera did a tour with Skid Row?? AND they went on together?? TO PLAY A KISS SONG???

From about then is when my life changed from stereotypical thrash kid to overall music lover, which helped my guitar playing beyond tremolo picking the E string

His style and talent will live on. His riffs all had a big Fuck Yeah

He was a killer player that reached everyone. Teenage girls are still doing YT vids playing Walk. Pretty amazing when you think of the barriers he reached across. He had "it"

The Dime lives on!

Thanks to my older brother, I got into hard rock and metal at a very young age. I was in love with Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax in the early 90's before I was even 10. I remember the day he came home with Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven on tape. I had never seen him so excited about getting a new cassette. He put on This Love to introduce me to them. At first I thought it was alright, didn't know what the big deal was. Then the chorus happened. I've never been the same since. So angry and so heavy. I've gone through phases since then, but Pantera has never gotten old to me.

RIP

For today....get your groove on, guys.

I never end up listening to anything to but Pantera today....

Love Dime!! RIP BROTHER!!!
Sure you guys get sick of this story.....but.......
I owned one of Dime's personal Tour used Custom Dime 3 Washburns. Bought it directly from Chuck Billy (lead singer of Testament) and he got it directly from Dimebag.
It wasnt black but a dark Army green with sparkle. One of a kind.
Here is a few pics of it....Complete with Dimes Duct taped Strap....METAL!!!!!!

Yeah.....sold all of my collection about 10 years back.

How much did it go for? I know it's none of my business, but I'm a curious sort, and love to talk about anything DBD.

sold it to another collector for 5k. Was going thru a divorce and had to sell off everything. Had over 400 electrics thru the years I was collecting. Tons of "rock star" owned guitars. That was a wild ride collecting I can tell you that.
