Rip Enzo - Extraordinary Amp Tech

Recently learned of Enzo's passing back in August of 2022. I got to meet Enzo when he worked on my mesa mark IVA to add a bias pot about 15+ years back. He was in Lansing Michigan, right accross from Elderly Instruments. Since I was from out of town he did the mod while I waited. His time that he spent to helping others on the music electronics forum has been invaluable. Learned so much from him.

Over the years of owning several Peavey amps, I think anytime I went searching for info on them for troubleshooting or anything I’ve ended up on a forum thread where he was offering the answer and then some (although sadly for me it was usually not as simple as ‘the answer’).

He helped me out when I was having problems with my Rockmaster preamp and VTM 60 back in the early days of the Peavey forum. Super great guy.

2003 I was an electrical engineering student at MSU during the day, and dedicated musician at night. My last semester I convinced my EE prof to let me do an independent study in tube electronics where my final project was to build a Fender Champ kit with minor component alterations of my choice. It was my first real soldering project and I sucked. I can’t remember why that night I was so desperate to finish but I had a bad ground hum I couldn’t find.

I reached out to Enzo with a phone call at 2am and he told me to come to his shop for help. I got a good crash course in proper soldering and he found two spots causing the ground hum. He was super nice, and equally proportional dorky.

I just saw this post. Every few years I think about Enzo, how generous with his time he was, and how much it meant to me to get his help. I am so happy to find people talking positively about the talented, good guy he was. It was enough for me to create an account on this webpage just so I could talk about Enzo too.
