Say what you want about Zakk but ...

He probably could have been a lot better without the beer. Flaunting your rampant alcoholism isn't cool either.

Robb and Mike were the "rhythm section to go" for lotsa people in that time frame. They KILLED IT with Cantrell too.
They were also the scabs that re-recorded the drum and bass tracks on Blizzard and Diary so the scumbag O$bourne's could cease paying royalties to Daisley and Kerslake.
I blame only Sharon and Ozzy for this. Total shit move, but it was the Osbourne's call. Can't blame the hired studio guys for that one, imo.

Zakk is the fucking man.

He's become somewhat 'entrenched' in his persona and playing in the last decade... but I can't think of a player alive or dead that could go toe to toe with Zakk and not be blown down by his power and aggression. He is a force.

A few bonus track from the remastered version of No More Tears , Always loved Zakks playing

I've always been underwhelmed by Zakk's playing. He does some cool stuff with the fast, picking every note, pentatonic thing. I just remember hearing No Rest for the Wicked and thinking, "This is the guy that's replacing Jake?" He was nowhere near as interesting, lead-wise. He's been playing the same licks for 20+ years now. He did have a cool tone and wrote some cool tunes. I'll give him that. Pride and Glory and Book of Shadows was the best stuf he did.

I see your point, and I definitely put 99% of the blame on the Osbourne's, but unless Sharon had a gun to their heads (and I wouldn't put it past her   ), they could have chosen not to participate in something that underhanded and sleazy. They were already successful enough that they could have skipped those paychecks. Put in that situation, I wouldn't have touched the tampering of those classic albums with a ten foot pole.

In the long run BOO and DOAM got re-re-released in 2011 , remastered from the original tapes. Those two albums have been released on cd 4 different times

Not a fan or a hater of his and all i can say is the guy has done more than i have in music and
is living his dreams so i guess that is what matters most.

This.

Call me crazy as it appears I am the only one in this thread that thinks this, but I still think he brings it. An amazing player in my opinion. I wish I had his chops.

I think most people agree he still has monster chops. Just his song writing and solos have lost something over the years.
