Who wants a Bigsby on their Flying V?

In my quest to find a nice V shaped guitar, I made a thread and you guys have been super helpful. I got a Carvin that's dope. But I still open all of the flying V listings and recently say one that stated, "Only downside to this beautiful guitar I reckon are the single dots on the inside of each part of the V where a bigsby used to be installed."

Why is this a fucking thing?!

I see why so many are opposed to abortion.

Lol. It looks very very extra! If there is one useful purpose for this bigsby it's probably to offset any Neck dive

Somebody going for the Lonnie Mack / Albert King vibe, I would guess. Gibson did a run of signature models that came with a Bigsby like that, but I don't recall any of them being white. IDK. There is no way in hell that I want a Bigsby on a V.

I think the Gibson V came out in 1958. A lot of trends have come and gone since then. Anyone remember the Kahler and Gibson trem from the 80s? It fit in the same pegs as the tuneomatic

Yep, wouldn't have a problem with one of those, or with a Floyd. The Bisgby just doesn't do it for me... 🤮

I dig Bigsbys on certain guitars but that looks like a chick with dental headgear on.
The B5/50 looks a little better, but there's just not enough room behind the tailpiece.

Agreed. I have a Bigbsy on an Edwards E-SA and it's pretty nice but I never use a trem. When the roller is too close behind the bridge like that the perceived string tension feels to high.

Its pretty slinky this far back but tbh i can raise a regular stop tailpiece for even more slinkiness. I thought about just running the strings over the top but not sure if there will be enough down pressure. The beauty of a stop tailpiece is you can fine tune it to your preferred slinkiness.

Bigsbys are the ultimate "form over function" item for guitars.
I couldn't tell you if this is true cause I don't think I've ever used mine once, lol.

I quit using trems after I broke so many bars off in my Fender that the block became stripped out. That was maybe 2005.
