Scumback or Celestion

Why not just buy two more BM75's and call it good? The V30/GB combo in a 4X12 sounded pretty damn good to me with the BE100, SS100, and the Atomica when I played through a 4X12. The V30/70th Anny G12H30 sounds great with more modern higher gain amps IMO.

I had the GB V30 combo after seeing the Phil X Friedman BE100 demo but live in the room I didn't care for the tone and tried a few other combos including the GT-75/GB mix before I tried the Scumback BMs. I loved the BE with the BM75s by themselves and with the V30 alone for heavier tones. That's what I still have today, 1 4x12 with V30s, 1 with BM75s. I'm not really looking for speakers anymore so that's worth the $$$ for me.

I'm running my Froedman with two BM75s and I love it.

The option is very alluring.

Ever try the V30 and BM at the same time?

Here's a picture of that mix I had in an Avatar cab, which I later transfered into a 1960A and sold
I'm telling you, the V30s are too loud for the GBs.
The only interesting way to do this is if you have a mono/stereo (like Marshalls, Avatar, Mesa, etc.) cab, you can then wire your speakers to have all 4 of them (mono), one stereo side with V30s only and the other stereo side with GBs only. Then you have a pretty damn versatile cab.

I have 2 combinations that I have used for a long time,, Vet30 orV30/ET65s or V30/H75 Scum, but I am funny about stuff like that, I find a great combination and I stick with it forever, that being said I would like to try Creambacks (the speaker   )
And BTW, I did not know we were supposed to be drinking,,,sorry
Yeah Gibson08 turned me on to H75/V30 mix in my splawn 212. It sounded so good I loaded my other splawn the same way. I've also got a mojo 412 with V30/H30 mix and it sounds incredible, def like it more than the V30/T75 mix in my Marshall

That's the thing. I'm not a mixed speaker guy so this is a big leap for me to consider.

I'd love to try a cab with the GB/V30 blend but I don't know of anyone who has those speakers mixed. I've yet to even try my amp with V30's.

Played it with GB through a TV cab while it was cool, it needed more aggression and bite. Could also be that a TV cab is four inches taller and makes the low end extremely dominant.

I hate buying blind so that's where I'm at.
I had a V30/GB mixed cab. It's hard to say if I heard much of the GB given it's lower efficiency. It was a front loaded Legacy cab, and sounded pretty good. Tight and punchy and forward, perhaps less bass than a rear loaded cab.

Was it a newer GB you tried in the TV? The new ones (read Chinese made) are bright and aggressive compared to clones or originals. If they weren't aggressive enough, I'd say try some V30s. Just be aware, out of the box V30s are not well liked, only after they've broken in some.

To be honest, I'd have to ask if I could open the cabinet. There could be a lack of punch since the cab's dimensions are larger than normal which makes it darker.

I never have been a V30 guy but I think that's due to them being fresh and not broken in. I love my Scumbacks and I'd rather buy two more, but the cost leans towards used celestions.

I'm gonna see how much Avatar charges for two GB and two broken in V30. I'd like English as I've had a quad of English GB before but to be honest it's been so low I don't know what the difference between the two is outside of build quality.

Just save your money and buy two more BM75's. It will be well worth it in the long run and less of a headache buying and selling speakers. That is my take on it. You know what you like and you obviously love the BM75s so it is a no brainer IMO!!!

Kind of hard to argue with this advice.

Unless you have something you want different than the BM75s, it's probably cheaper in the long run to just get another pair.

I actually run all v30's with my friedman and have been even more, and more curious about running all bm75's. To me they seem like the tightest greenback offering from jim but i may be wrong. If you were in the NY i would tell you to bring your cab buy and we could compare them side by side.

And I'm telling you that they're not too loud when running them GB top/ V30 bottom instead of in an x-pattern. Friedman likes the combo, as do an untold number of other players...that you tell you that it's an option worth investigating.

Rob hit the nail on the head, get the BM75's. Otherwise you will be buying and selling (and losing money) until you finally get pissed and buy the Scumbacks.

I agree with Rob. I run a quad of Bm75 ldc's and love them with the be100.
It will be the best way to go and you will be set then

I'm most likely going to stick with the BM75s.

At some point, I'm gonna try the G12H30/V30 combo. Should be cool.
