Sennheiser 421 placement?

Both the 57 and WA84 are excellent mics though, so you're off to a solid start

That was basically what I used for the last album. Results seemed ok but not anything I felt like writing home about. Realistically I only have a couple tracks to work with for each guitar so I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better of ditching the 57 for a different close mic. I probably need to spend a day or two playing with some positions and various mics before I dive into heavy duty tracking.
