yeah, that's what i was coming up with too. I mean the drive isn't too bad (~35 to 40 minutes) so long as it will save a little $.
Would you recommend the FedEx Express Ship Centers (the purple square locations)?

Yes, those are legit FedEx locations, not the "resellers" (blue circle eg: The Shipping Box)

i shipped a carvin legacy head from dallas to south africa via a UPS store and it made the trip just fine. the put it in a box with plenty of foam and peanuts and were really careful with everything. Im sure there are locations that dont give a fuck but if you find a quality store im sure it'll get handled just fine

yup, I took a guitar to the UPS store once....cost something like $125 to pack and ship in the same time zone. never again

I really like the fed ex kinkos deal by my house. 24 /7 nice merger.

I finally got a chance to take it apart and begin the packing process. Here's what I've done so far:

First, i pulled the tubes and labeled them

I also made sure to label the sockets too haha

I wrapped each individual tube (all 16 of them) with some nice bubble wrap and lined the inside of the chassis with 1" thick foam making sure to cover all the metal up

Then i put another thick layer of foam on top of the tubes and put a piece of card board near the open to prevent the tubes from sliding around. Finally, i sealed the top (note: i didn't have all the screws in for this picture that's why the back right corner looks like it is up a little bit)

Then i wrapped the whole amp in some bubble wrap

I'm thinking about using that 2" thick green foam to wrap around the entire amplifier, then put that in a box. Would that be sufficient or should I box that, then put it in a larger box with some peanuts or something?
