PANAMA!

1 Marsha - sounded the juiciest of the bunch, with the best crunch
2 SLO
3 XTC

new slo clip for the win!

I listened to your soundclick page and you get some pretty ferocious guitar sounds no matter what amp you are playing.

care to share your signal chain and processing tweaks? :D

I liked the new recording of the SLO a lot, but
1.Marsha
2. Slo
.....
Last: XTC

I did not like the Bogner at all, don't ask me why...

I liked the Marsha and XTC. Yuck on the SLO. I would love to hear the Marsha and XTC blended, I think they may really compliment each other. Thanks for the clips.

You used B1 on the XTC, right? Try B2 with the gain at about 3:00, blue channel.

BTW, what kind of speakers / mic?

Well done; that Marsha sounds killer!

there is no B1 or B2, only B/M/D on the 100B
Ahh. In that case, if I'm not mistaken, B1 is similar to M and B2 is similar to B. Still curious; which did you use for the clip?

The differences are minimal to my ears on my crap speakers.

Settings on the XTC were, eq 12:00, gain 2:00, speaker excursion centre position, pre eq centre, gain L, air L, Old mode, varic off, same volume as the others. EVH custom 20w GB speaker, E906 mic, RNP, M Box Pro, There's a 53ms delay on one side of each track to give the guitar some spread. I admit these weren't recorded in a ideal environment. For example playing live I would use the Blue ch on the XTC at a high volume to get that level of gain. So the power stage is not contributing a lot to these clips.

Oh the Bogner was running in triode mode! You should have kept it in "New" and instead put the VariAC on, compensate with a bit of bass added, that would create more of a VH vibe. Still loved the tone. Marsha wins for me on these clips, although I am a 100B fanboy.

I've been running these settings lately and I'm realy liking them at high volume. The other setting I like is speaker excursion on "L" with the variac on. For some reason I like the "Old" mode ATM? Ah, so many options on the XTC.

Funny you mention that James, as I'm considering running the Marsha and XTC live. Maybe Marsha on all of the time then kicking in the XTC for solos.

The new SLO clip is more of what I like in that amp...sounds great this time around. I think its a toss-up at this point with the SLO and the Marsha.

I really don't get the SLO "yuck" comment...it sounds so close to the Marsha now that they could easily be interchangable. Somebody must have personal issues with Mike ;)

SLO
XTC
Marsha

The SLO sounds the clearest and most open to me. XTC is darker and more compressed but has that great Bogner woody knock to it. Marsha doesn't do much for me - it's somewhat dark like the XTC, but lacks the wood. And it's 'openess' is actually just a fizz on the high end that doesn't really deliver the complexity. All IMO of course (but I'm right!).

EDIT - this is as of 7:30 AM EST. If you keep re-doing the clips the comparison comments don't mean much....

I really like the redone clips.

Marsha
XTC
SLO

Until you redid the XTC, the redone SLO was in the 2 spot, but afterwards, I prefer the XTC. The Marsha is just *right*, while the Bogner is a bit too dark, and the SLO sounds a bit too stiff. All three clips sound damn good.

Marsha, Ecstasy and then the SLO for me. All sound opretty damn good howerver ;)
