Nice man! Mike said they weren't that busy so just a couple week turn around.
Sounds good to me!

It's the ++ mod coming outta a Mark III, hence the 3 +s. Kind of a play on words.

I'm excited for you Mailman! I think you'll love the Mark III. I think the only are where the Mark III falls short compared to other amps is on the fact the controls are shared, but having the R2 mod on Rhythm 2 makes it more usable. I can also vouch for how awesome Mike is to talk to. Super nice guy, super knowledgable, and seems to really have a passion for designing these amps.

My Mark III Coliseum "no stripe" was modded before I got it to be a III+, and it's a lot smoother than my Blue Stripe Coli. The main difference I've found is that the Presence is affected quite a bit. It's a more gradual change, but if I want to make it closer to a stock III with the Presence set on 4, I can set the III+ on 8, and it's pretty close.

I've heard that the III++ mod adds more gain to the III+ Mod, while keeping the gain smoother, but I'm not sure what components are changed, or what their values are. I have never heard of the III+++ mod though. What does the III+++ mod accomplish? If you can't mention what the mod entails, what does the mod do? Is your Mark III still going to be wired in Pentode, or is Mike changing it to Triode?

Mike basically said it's going to be more clear. More aggressive and more gain on tap.
Talking to the few guys here that have Or had one. That sounds about what they described as well.
He never mentioned about the wiring. We mostly just shot the breeze about music and playing.
Since when I got the amp it was dead. I really can't compare how it differs when modded.
He told me 'your gonna love it'
That's all I needed to hear.

Yeah, if Mike says you're going to love something, he knows what he's talking about. I've shot the breeze with him on a couple amps, and he's always given some really good advice. I've always been surprised that when you tell the receptionist "can I talk to Mike", two seconds later you hear "hello?", and he's on the line. It's awesome how accessible he is.

I don't think I could imagine my Colis having more gain (and I love gain), but it'll be interesting to hear the "grain" of it! Like I mentioned before, I didn't even know there was a III+++ mod out there, but I'll certainly have to educate myself on it!

If you get a chance to talk to Mike again before the benchwork is complete, I'd definitely recommend checking into the R2 mod. It really makes the amp a 3 channel amp.

I sent my blue stripe to Mesa last year and thought the price was nice. I just wanted them to make it like new. So, hey changed the caps and a handful, of other stuff. I considered these mods but decided against it. The Amp is already perfect to my ears.

The mod isn't for everyone. Right out of the gate, the III is a little more aggressive and has a little more gain on tap than a +. The + will have more when you start getting into ++ territory, but I think most folks here would be happy with a stock III honestly.

Mesa has the best customer service in the industry, hands down.

Oh for sure. I had a few stock iii's in the past. Awesome.
I just always been curious since I heard of this mod.
Plus mikes gonna replace any thing wearing out inside.
That's a big plus.

Not a plus at all. A Plus Plus! Don't f'ing forget it :gethim:

I really think he had this amp before. Unless he signs all the chassis when they roll out the door?

You'll love the amp... Everything Mike touches is gold. The worst part is watching the calendar waiting for the amp to come back...

Just not enough "+" for me. Maybe add a couple "*" too.

Also wanted to add. I have had several amps sent out to be modded thru the years.
$300 is a SMOKING DEAL

I wish Mesa would mod all my amps. Wonder what they can do with a JMP ?

I kind of wish I kept my Trident to be honest skoora.

Mesa make some of the best amps and their repair shop service is pretty much second to none! \m/

I agree 100%. I've always been done right by them.

Just got a call from Mike B at boogie.
He went over some the things he is changing out. Told me my amp was a Green Stripe that was just faded to look blue thru the years. Said stripe color isnt gonna matter anyway.
Shot the shit for about 15 minutes and he said my amp should be ready in the next week or so.
He is going to check and test every part of the amp and said I was looking at about $150 or so for the Bench work.
But he assured it will be brand new life breathing in its lungs and will last another 20 years.
That is just too damn cool.
