So......shipping my Amp off to Mesa Boogie to get modded...

Since when has GC started having good deals? Seems like everyone is finding cheap shit at GC these days. I had horrible luck with them for years, until a couple years ago. Picked up my Breedlove brand new for about $700 less than it's worth, and a B.K Butler Tube Driver for at least $100 less the usual price.

I think "my" sound is a Recto and a Mark series run together, set up in a W/D/W. Stereo delays. Even setting up that kind of rig with amp sims gets the sound I hear in my head when I'm writing lately. Throw in a Vibroverb for cleans, maybe an AC15 for lower gain stuff and I'm good to go.
 
My FJA modded recto is a hybrid of the Mark and Recto. It just kills. :rock:
 
Should be getting this bad ass Mark back in the next week or so. :rock:

My Kyle Rhodes modded triple rev F is along the same lines. MK3 green ran with a rev F dual, my "poor mans" modded recto. :lol: :LOL:

Update Oct 3rd.

Got a call from Mesa. Amp is done. :D
He told me alot of the caps were replaced....and some other tech stuff was replaced. Not really sure he was talking amp gut parts. :lol: :LOL:
But its got new Pre-tubes and New Power tubes. $365 to have it shipped back.
Thats not bad at all. $100 for the New power tubes. The Shipping will be at least $75 from California back to Michigan(Thats what I paid to ship it there)
And of course add the $300 I paid Mike for the ++ Mod.
Its still a good deal. So if you dont need the power tubes (This one had none all smashed in shipping)
It would knock a $100 off. :thumbsup:
So yah......I am pretty stoked. :rock:
 
Completely reasonable price, in my estimation. Sounds like it's totally worth it. Time to start buying up Mark IIIs before this turns into the new hot thing.

Looks like Mark III prices have gone up in general, but they're all over the place. I've always wanted one. I wonder what Mike B could do to a .50 Caliber... If you talk to him again Mailman, ask him for me please.
 
Funny you mention the prices.
When I got mine there were 3 marks at guitar centers for 800 bucks.
Now the lowest price I believe is either a grand or $1100
 
I've been watching Mark IIIs for sale for about a year now, and purchased 2 in that time. It's easy to find them in the $800-900 range if you have patience. Many go up for sale in the $1200 range, but the ones under a grand sell. GC has the best prices overall, sometimes on EBay you'll see a good one, and Reverb is always the highest- on average (but you can make an offer). There are actually a couple colis floating around for sale now- I almost bought one this weekend because I was on the road in its neighborhood, but was too busy with work to go see it. Not to mention I really don't need that much power but :rock: . All of the marks crush (especially if you send it to Mike for a refresh), and I think the IIIs are the best value.
 
Yup. I waited about 6 months watching them. Finally pulled the trigger at $800
Helluva amp for that price.
Got it thru guitar center as well. They will keep dropping the price till it sells.
Just got to play the waiting game if not in a hurry :yes:
 
A few years ago they were considerably cheaper. It wasn't hard to find one under $700. I paid $650 for a red stripe and $550 for my current green stripe. Prices have definitely come up a lot.
 
Back in '96 i paid $650 for an '86 combo. Still the longest I have owned a amp. :lol: :LOL:

I loved the mark series amps. So if this is one that's on steroids.
