Yeah, so I'm four days late but what the hell

Here's mine
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=449147&songID=10084647
It's a little brighter than I would like, but the headphones I have are dark sounding.
Oh, and clam warning at 1:05.

Now off to hear the other offerings!!

I haven't listened to any of the other takes on this yet, but I saw "Kaleiwahea" had posted and I had to check out some Billy Bogner! Kick ass Mark! As always. And I think your tone is freaking GREAT. Can you give a run down of what you used?

You wouldn't believe me if I told you.

OK.
It's a Digitech EX-7 straight into an MBOX with Protools LE. Guitar is an old Charvel Model 3A with a Duncan EVH in it.
The Digitech has digital emulations of some popular distortion pedals, including cab simulation. The main lead part is a DOD 250 (I think). You cannot select the cabinet sim., it's set depending on the pedal sim. you choose. The harmony stuff is a Metal Zone sim.

The drawback is that you cannot use just the distortion - you have to have an effect on in order to access the distortions. That's why it has that Schenker vibe to it. I had to have a wah or a whammy on, but you can somewhat adjust the intensity of the effect.

All the reverb and delay is from protools.
To me, the most important thing on the main lead is a stereo delay inserted on the channel that is set to 100% wet, with no feedback, and one side at 0.00ms, the other side at 0.45ms. There is no direct signal, but the delay times are so short that it doesn't effect the timing. Because the delay times are different it spreads the sound out and really makes it come alive. I do this with vocals, even stereo drum machine tracks. Sometimes there are phasing issues but you can mess with dalay times and make it less noticeable.

Sorry for the long recording technique BS.
Thanks for the compliments!

Great work, Man! It's cool that you and I touch on some very similar motifs :D

Thanks man, this is kind of a new approach/style for me. I was digging yours a lot and I'm definitely gonna have to steal a few of your licks you put on that track!

This is what happens when I spend about an hour screwing around with this.
I recorded 3 takes, 3 tracks, 3 different patch sounds in the AxeFx.

This was really hard, and I'm sure if i spend more time with it, can do better. I made some mistakes, just decided the hell with it, and left them in. I'm more a rhythm player than a lead, and this song is all about leads...so...don't be too harsh.

but my take, called "SorryThisSucksSoBad"

Much respect man, you did it

So... I just did this. Didn't wanna spend time on it, since it's a jam :D So it's first take. And it is what it is...

Cool. Really liked the stuff about 1/3 of the way in.

I think I heard one note in there where you missed pitch by a few cents. I'm sure you'll do better next time. :gethim:

Nice job dude.

I don't know Mark, I thought you were right on time. Love it, especially after you begin the whammy work and kick it into 5th gear through to the end. The rolled back/cleaner tone was cool but I by far prefer your playing style whipped with a little gain.

Don't worry Mark, he told George Lynch basically the same thing.
