because the reason we buy gear is to please ourselves first.
I find the better I like the sound/feel of the gear, the better I play, and the more I enjoy playing.
edit: if I was trying to please an audience and not myself; I'd have a Squier strat and some kind of hard tail dual humbucker guitar, and a Bugera Infinium a Blackstar tube amp or similar, and more money; and more room here...
Yeah SF cause they are cheap but they are BF'ed and my main amp is modded with different input caps to keep it tighter at volume. I can still hear my amp this evening.
I will probably start shoving some cotton in my left ear like I used to. It was too intense even for my sacrificial anode to handle.

My dear brother, I do not put plastic masks over my face or insert plastic in my ears. Anything that blocks the ear canal leading to my ear drum will temper the received dB's. Tension/dB reduction adjustable and 100% organic, probably grown in TX or MS.
For the record my ears have been ringing since I was a child, long before I picked up a guitar. Dude playing harmonica through a cranked bassman next to me a month ago was actually the most painful stage moment I've had, and tweaked my ear for a couple days so I need to throw a few cotton rounds into my guitar case.
